It's the right car for the man taking the cash from Walthamstow dog track to the safe in his lock-up.

If he's still taking it, I think he needs something a little faster!

Walthamstow Stadium was a greyhound racing track located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest in east London. It was regarded as the leading greyhound racing stadium in Britain following the closure of White City in 1984. The stadium closed on 16 August 2008. Wikipedia

Well, that's a shame.

The fella that owned it - I forget his name - used to take the cash home in his Bentley every night, non-stop through every red light.

That place was dodgy as ****.

We had a work night out there. Were all given £20 to bet.

3 girls, all mid 20's, got chatty to some of the pork-pie-hat wearing regulars. This one dodgy looking bloke, who thought he might get a date out of it, told them what dog to bet on for each race

- they won every single race.

After taking £100 each, they donated the rest for drinks all evening. Was a messy night!

I think we can guess why Bookies never used the secure van cash collection companies. (Probably because they they record it and deposit the money in a bank)

Bookies getting robbed turned into quite a regular crime. The Cheltenham Festival bookie who got robbed made national news.

Became quite regular in 2016!

I'm also guessing if they're taking £100+k wagers and got robbed, that the figures quoted for the amount stolen are wrong.

A long long time ago, I once was on a project located at the Walthamstow Building Society. Sadly could not save it, but really enjoyed the contrast to being in the city, although a faff to get to from Earlsfield each day. And I do recall going to the dogs on one occasion too.

When I was a sprog in the RAF at Locking, near Weston Super Mare, the Warrant Officer of Physical Training was a sucker for the dogs. He used to carry an old skool brief case stuffed full of cash. Him and a very tall and 'useful' drill instructor Flight Sergeant acting as his minder used to have very 'succesful nights' at the dogs and he'd use the gym safe as his 'lock-up' . He'd reckoned that no-one would steal his cash with armed guards around.

He'd often throw us a tip but many didn't come in, teaching us that gambling is a mugs game. A life lesson there.

Buy a Maserati instead @midlifecrisis
It's like that joke about a tee-total girlfiend complaining to her boyfriend about his drinking habit. He has 6 beers a day for 20 years and she works out that he could have bought a Maserati with the money. So he turns to her and says, well you don't drink so where's yours...

Well that was an interesting day!

Two great conference call with developers who want to work with us.
Then the missus rings me up and tells me that our drinking water isn’t suitable for drinking.
long story short the old iron pipe work has rusted (funny that) and has blocked the pipes with said rust, hence we have very low water pressure.

So I get home, British Gas (who do our home car insurance) have sent Dyno Rod round to check there’s no leak and he says under no circumstances drink the water.

Our plumber calls up a friend who does groundwork’s and they quote to dig up (fortunately only part) of the driveway and lay new poly pipe into the house.

Work out a plan of how the water pipe will then run into our existing cold water circuit with the plumber.

They start first thing in the morning. I figure by Saturday I’m going to be about 3 grand out of pocket!

Oh well. Could be worse!
