That is a fantastic replica. I hope the engine is less troublesome than the original Maybach.

The original was pretty good for trapping through Poland, Belgium, Holland and of course France.
By the time it broke down they'd all surrendered anyway!

Thank you Newton, i read that something's going on with your dog, hope all will go well.

cheers Nikos, poor thing had a huge abscess on his rump, lots of dead tissue so a very slow recovery, over a week in and no chance of closing it so he looks like a baboon!

True, but when they weren’t in a combat area they were usually on a train. The engine and transmissions weren’t man enough for the job of lugging a sh!t ton of hardened steel about. Mind you, lots of them broke down due to sabotage at the factory by the forced labour; Bruce Crompton (Combat Dealer) bought a MkV Panther and the engine he got for it had an exhaust valve with a collar machined 2/3 the way through. He was lucky the head didn’t fall off into the combustion chamber. A mate of his Kevin Wheatcroft has a MkV as well and he found an oil gallery that had been drilled in order to drop the pressure in the front drive case.

Morning all, up early as today is the day they are putting the resin bound on the driveway for me! £2.5k and all I can do is watch, a very odd feeling I’m sure. Dog is improving.

Have fun all...

I definitely wouldn’t change the pedals, unless you wanted to change them to more of a mountain bike cleat so you can buy shoes with the clip built into the sole and easier to walk in? The benefits of pedalling clipped into the pedals are massive if you are going do anything other than casual cycling, and it only takes a little while to get used to it...

Nice looking bike - I was toying with buying new bike a while ago, and a Cannondale Synapse was on my short list...
Yes - I'm putting mountain bike pedals onto my road bike so I can walk more easily - the racing/hard riding days are over :(

Definitely a little jaded this morning. I really need to stop buying vodka.

Dog is improving.

Top tail wagging, there.

Local gastro pup pop up shop first to collect vittles for our Portuguese evening in Brentwood. That will get pretty messy I'm sure.

Then physio on my buggered ankle. Which I am not looking forward to but given it's now a 9 day old injury and it's still bruised and swollen it clearly needs some kind of treatment.

Have a great day, all

Get well soon. Also mine had some trouble last year. Dogs are simply adorable.

Good morning everyone, still hot here, around 41 during the day. Have a nice weekend.

Empty the tank, gas axe a hole in the top of the tank, find the leak, weld on a patch, weld the hole in the top and relay the concrete. 4 days max. 3k max. I’ll take a mere 10% of the savings, so everyone is happy, apart from the guy doing the welding!
Doesnt work on a plastic tank! By the way I also found out that plastic oil tanks are only good for 10-15 years after which you are running on borrowed time until they crack and subsequently leak. I found out this week that my old tank was 25 years old! Apparently overtime the plastic goes brittle with the oil and UV light. If you then get hot weather, the plastic expands and cracks at the moulded weak spots ( where the plastic is thinnest) and hey presto it then starts weeping oil. So a right pain in the a--- TBH.

It sounds like you find the problems of dealing with an oil leak an inconvenient and unwelcome intrusion on time and wallet. You need to talk to @Dan! about heat pumps.
I have looked at heat pumps, ( air and ground source systems) but too expensive. Would take me c.15 years to recover the investment, so a non starter for me.

Although no car events or rallies this year so far, seeing as it's the first today, and we are on holiday next week just bobbin around, taxed the Maser for the first time this year.
At least get 2 or 3 months out of her.

Morning, all (by the skin of my teeth!). Lord, it's hot. Grass cut, some outside tidying stuff done and, er, that'll be my lot. I'd hoped to do some car washing today, but sod that in this heat.

As for car events, I trundled over to a Drivers Union meet locally last weekend. Seemed mostly to be a Ferrari and McLaren thing, but it was nice to have a poke around. I do like those 720s, and the 675s are something special.

Yes, very true, and if your plastic tank develops a leak, rub a bar of soap into the split, works a treat as an emergency temp patch.
