Morning.. St Bin of the household general waste day... Back to WFH day 140 odd today after 4 days of leave indulging in overeating binge drinking and lacklustre / unsuccessful car viewing. Early doors finish to prepare for BBQ with family tonight.. have a good one all.

Morning all. Looks like a warm one out there today. Might have to slip off early to make the most of it.

Not much else going on today I don't think...

Its going to cost me the best part of £3k for a new bunded tank, platform and insurance excess. I bet the decontamination work will be closer to £25k; 3 days work for the contractor.

I know it's slightly different, but in my insurance days we had a petrol tank at a BP filling station (I think, or was it shell???) that sprang a leak, the total loss was 'only' about 50 gallons.

So obviously the tank had to be replaced, but that involved taking out the canopy, digging it all up and the associated remedial work, with business interruption etc, the whole claim can in at about £3.25m!!!!!

The cost of the tank, £28k!

At last! The spyder is going in for some loving attention today. She hasn’t been used for the last 2 years so I’m looking forward to getting her sorted out and back on the road. I fired her up and boy, I’d forgotten just how loud she sings! I’m stirring myself to start getting more things done; the Chevette should be going in for a full paint job shortly, the back suspension will be coming out of the quattro for a full overhaul and the engine of the GS 750 will be getting fully restored as well. Could be a busy year!

Empty the tank, gas axe a hole in the top of the tank, find the leak, weld on a patch, weld the hole in the top and relay the concrete. 4 days max. 3k max. I’ll take a mere 10% of the savings, so everyone is happy, apart from the guy doing the welding!

Here's a tank that would help with the insurance claim. https://tanks-alot.co.uk/product/russian-t54-main-battle-tank/

That would be great for Le Mans. Every town you went through they'd be waving (white) flags.

Oh no, I need a Tiger for that!

Bit more pricey though (back in 2016.

And yea! St Bin sayeth to me 'Make record of my acolytes as they come to collect your offerings, and thus will you smite the false prophets that make claim to the day of St Bin being other than the Friday (Bank Holidays excluded). Go forth and smite them with your righteous right arm and your holy bin juice until all are bought to understanding'

Morning all, new toy arrived but do I change the pedals or get some proper cycling shoes

View attachment 73503

I definitely wouldn’t change the pedals, unless you wanted to change them to more of a mountain bike cleat so you can buy shoes with the clip built into the sole and easier to walk in? The benefits of pedalling clipped into the pedals are massive if you are going do anything other than casual cycling, and it only takes a little while to get used to it...

Nice looking bike - I was toying with buying new bike a while ago, and a Cannondale Synapse was on my short list...
