To be fair in the hierarchy of things your boss is at fault for not assisting your memory! And if **** comes rolling downhill it should hit two levels before it gets to you? If head honcho gets personal about it then it sort of undermines the two levels between you and him?

If it were me I'd be just as contrite, but I'd also make sure I had a portfolio of all my successes readily to hand.

No excusing missing the call as even if sick, you could have excused yourself earlier (I'm wearing my corporate hat for that bit)

But no harm in being able to point out, if any one needs reminding, that in all other ways you are outstanding!!?

Thanks. Indeed, no actual excuse. At present I think it's a little under the rader. I intend/hope to keep it there!

Fingers crossed. It's in the past so pointless worrying too much (easier said!). Just be prepared 'just in case' as you say, it may not amount to anything at all.

In other news, work has been going from bad to worse this week.

I had a meeting with our head honcho (my boss's, boss's, boss), it was a call for 8 of us. In 7 years, I've only had one other call with him. These are pretty rare in a company of our size. I was unwell and completely forgot to attend. I sent him an apology, no response.

Given how hard I've been working during this lock-down, compared to others, it is frustrating and disappointing that I've messed up something so simple that will definitely result in him taking a dim view of me. There's nothing i can do about it now. But, its little things like this that stick in people's mind and damage their opinion of you.

That's pretty much wrecked this week.

I've actually not even wanted to post it on here I was so mortified with myself.

Life goes on and all that...
I feel for you, I missed a call from our Chairman a year or so back, he was on holiday himself so the call was specifically to fit in with the time difference.
I was gutted, turned out the call was to ask me to set up to CEO ! anyway talent rules ...... I am the CEO.
An apology is all that’s necessary, no excuses, move on ........ I bet he has !

Looks pretty pankled

That was going some rate when it suck in water. Any significant corrosion in there?

Doesnt appear to be , absolutely no rust or marking inside , or in and around the bores fortunately , general consensus is the opposite that impact was slow but a lot suction filled that cylinder quickly ( so may have been revving it ) with loads of momentum and speed behind it then logic says the damage would have been greater

I meant the piston was going at some rate, high revs.
