Morning all, retirement? What is this witchcraft you speak of???

Haven’t figured my day yet so I’ll play it by ear.

Have fun all...

Morning all. Well, the XC90 ‘daily drive’ arrived and I have to say, it’s a **** of a vehicle. Almost worth the 9 month wait.
Must be a sign of age when having a Volvo in your life seems like a good idea....A1FC65BC-A5BD-40A1-AA0B-782404AEE364.jpegAADB5D0A-8B0E-449E-BBC4-276A4B7DBC4B.jpegF23C1EA8-A689-4F54-80D3-75C55A1A5959.jpeg

Brief, it transpires! Next time I should plan better and try to stretch it out until I'm dead, which with luck should be more than about five weeks.

This work lark's gonna be a shocker. I dunno how you all do it! :)

High-class gigolo, like that Richard Gere in the film where he was an American one. Get the roof down off the Porker, wind in your hair. Mate, you'll be rushed off your feet!

Good morning, you deviant band of scoundrels. Today I am a commuter. Yeuch! I don't intend to make a habit of it (There's probably a nun pun in there somewhere).

Happy Tueasday, everyone.

Good Morning all waking up in Laval to Beautiful Sunshine.
The last bit of the drive home was in heavy rain.
Ms French will be busy doing laundry and I will be cleaning the car after the road trip.

Morning all.

Back 'in the room' so to speak after an eventful couple of weeks.
The short version is as follows:-

On the Wednesday after the bank holiday I was rushed to hospital with suspected meningitis and put on a concoction of drugs to ease both the excruciating pain in my head and the counteract the 'bacteria'.
On the Thursday I had 4 attempts at a lumbar puncture, (3 by a doctor who clearly had no idea what he was doing, resulting in even more pain, before an anaesthetist did it perfectly.

Anyway after 6 days of this it turns out that fortunately I didn't have meningitis, however, I did have a severe case of food poisoning, something called camplybactor (something like that) which apparently kills about 50 people in the UK each year.

As I'm not dead, I guess I got off lightly after spending all that time in hospital.

As I was in hospital for that length of time it also meant that I couldn't go on holiday so that was cancelled, although we did manage a short weekend break over the weekend.
Where I promptly lost my phone after it fell out my pocket and into a river. Joy.

Anyway, am now back in work with a gazillion emails to catch up on.

I had camplybactor about 30 years ago - they took a bit of time to sort it out and about 10 days later I had an auto-immune reaction as a result - Reuters disease - vile. Was off work for about four months and took over a couple of years to completely clear. But I am sure that won't happen to you.

That sounds nasty. They said I had a particular severe case, and said something about dysentry type symptoms. To be honest I'm not too sure as I was up to my eyeballs in drugs and had a temperature which at one point almost hit 40 and then 30 minutes later was at 32 (so my wife tells me).
Apparently both can kill you! :(
