Morning all. Great night! Kitchen is a bit of a mess though, and the scales were un-impressed :D

Clear the sports maserati cookies, close your browser and re-log in. That will probably fix it.

Morning all, got **** of the Volvo yesterday, it took all day to empty it though! Masses of tools and **** in there. Now to focus on the replacement.

Much to do today, mostly involving admin and listing parts of the Frankenvan on fleabay.

Have fun all...

Good morning all, bit grey out but hoping to spend a good part of the day cleaning and polishing the car. What’s the betting I hear a “can you just do this and this” lol

Get outside, and fast. The sooner you’re conspicuously locked in to car-based activities the better.

Newton, bummer about the Frankenvan, but good luck with getting it sold off.

Morning, all. Wet and grim outside. My to-do list includes Vantage wheel removal, clean, Iron-X and Swissvax Autobahn. To do that I need a lower-profile jack and better weather, both of which I expect by next weekend.

Morning everyone!

I haven't been saying much lately, but had an email yesterday requesting a lot of money from me as apparently we're completing on a new round of funding for our company tomorrow so my buy-in is needed then. More updates when I finally can say more!

Super chuffed on the weight-loss and fitness increase!

I stopped in at Aston Martin Bristol instead of visiting motorway services on Wednesday. Oh my goodness have they some incredible cars! How many Zagato of different models??? Also, their new paint options are truly spectacular. Oh, and then I got to fire up a Vanquish... want.
Adam, I blame you for giving me an itchy Aston rash.

HapPea Sunday!

I'm annoyed with myself over it Adam, It was so close but I just couldn't get past the immobiliser issues of grafting two models together; if I was trained in CAN-BUS programming I may have been able to got through it but PSA (Peugeot/Citroen etc.) have it nailed down and you just cannot get the information you need. The nail in the coffin was the ULEZ coming into London after April and over the next few years getting tougher and tougher mean I'd be wasting my time anyway as the chassis is only Euro 4 so even with a 5 engine I'd get pinged as a 4.

Hoping I can recover some of my outlay without investing much more time on it.

You needn't get annoyed with yourself - it was inspired! You weren't to know that those Peugeot demons had worked their dark magic on its soul. It makes it hard to engineer your way to a solution when electrowizardy gets in the way. With my old '69 Spitfire, even my limited spannering skills could fix most problems on it. My wallet and available tools were the bigger limitations. Cars now present a whole different set of challenges. I applaud you for even trying.

I expected the immobiliser chip to be linked to the ECU which is where the immobiliser function is based and the BSI (Business Systems Interface = brain under the dash) but what I learnt fairly early on was that it was also linked to the ABS (as fitted to the 2008 van), problem No.1, the 3008 donor was a 2013 model and fitted with stability control/ABS instead (many more wires)! The problem should have been surmountable however the 3008 immobiliser is also linked to the electronic handbrake and infotainment system!!! all by serial number and as I possessed neither and the shell had been crushed, I was jiggered! It should be possible to wipe the BSI and refit it to re-learn what is present on the vehicle, divorce the stability unit and re-marry the vans ABS etc. but I started to loose the will to live at that point!

You'd have needed to find a bloody tenacious automotive electronics PhD student in need of a dissertation project.

Fair play to you Newton as I wouldn't be going anywhere near a project like that and I've done a few in my time.
