The good morning thread

I’m doing quite a lot to a 90’s BM at present and everything plastic breaks as soon as I look at it. Then costs an absolute fortune for a simple part, well not an absolute fortune, but 10 times the price I think it should, worse than the Maserati. But at least most parts are still available, even for a 30 year old 850.

Have you been using main dealers for parts? I found they were often cheaper than the aftermarket places/eBay/breakers.

I’m freezing my boll0cks off at present fitting a new radiator, only cost me 130 quid (aftermarket) and fantastic quality. Two new air intake grills (plastic) 8” x 2”, and only available from main dealers 100 quid. It’s the rare plastic bits I’m moaning about. Phil was saying how good plastic was in the 60’s, I was saying German plastic from the 90’s isn’t all that good today. But it’s only to be expected that plastic deteriorates, maybe it’s only on little French cars where it’s everlasting.

Didn’t really find any of the plastic bits on my E34 were fragile, sold it 4 years ago. Although the plastic inlet on the rad broke off. It was about £130 too.

That looks lovely, it’s the little bits that break off such as the brackets, clips and so on, then cost. Example as per photo, securing clips broken, new one available 100 quid. Compared with a complete radiator at 130 quid. 93644

It was, no rust, rare with air-con and the single Vanos 2.5, quicker than a 535. I found out the bloke who bought it used the engine for a resto-mod E21 and scrapped the rest

Top o' the mornin' gentlemen.
The locals have been getting into the Christmas spirits for weeks now.
What evidence have I of this egregious libel, you say? I give you this!

But, apparently the effort is for charity. So that's alright then.
My question is. How much is too much? Has this person crossed the line and left it far in his multicoloured wake?
Or, do you feel that he's still a good way to go. Before he even sees the line on the horizon?
Miles to go yet, I can still see some black bits with no multi-coloured lights.

Taking apart a 50 year old Renault 16 has been a pure pleasure even the fake wood on the dash panel like new metal knobs and handles probably well preserved by nicotine but came up like new.
Plastics not as good in my 99 top spec Citroen XM but the full leather as good as any other.

Take care out there !

Top of the morning from the beautiful and sunny Cape. Usual Tuesday early morning routine, gym, coffee and then start the day getting some quotes from contractors

Morning all, I may be working with some plastics later, off to Kent in a bit, followed by Aldershot and Bracknell.

Have fun all…

It’s strange how it seems to effect people (or not). First jab we had no effects whatsoever, second I was sick for 2 days. I think it is connected to the state of the immune system. I stupidly did a strenuous gym session after the second thinking I would be fine based on the first jab, but that is a sample of one of course. No boosters on offer here yet.

Yes all very different for everyone, I have been fine after all mine, not even a sore arm.
I have a friend in Spain who collapsed after his first jab in May and has been reared for swelling of the brain since then, yesterday he had life saving surgery where they remove part of the skull to make room for the swelling and protect the brain from damage.
My wife can put up with a bit of sickness for a day or so.
