Morning all, internet down here last night too fortunately back up this morning.

Certainly Christmas here now as last night was the Late Late Christmas Toy show which apparently is a big thing here, small trees are going up today prior to arrival of the big one next Saturday

Glad it’s healing Mr Pea. Did they just remove the one star, are the other 3 still there?
That's right. That was the only one spinning slowly enough for them to catch it.

I have to say it's quite fun going out or shopping either with a nice obvious set if stitches like this, of a mahusive dressing on your forehead. It gets intriguing attention.

Did people get out of your way like you were about to mug them or were they more concerned you’d had a fall at home?

Unfortunately more concerned that something terrible had happened to me. The surgeon thought I might get quite a black eye from it. That could have elicited the other response.

Morning all and feeling stiff today.
Got the final clearout of the downstairs of the workshop done.
Every bit of it done by myself.
Can still smell two stroke in my head after using the chainsaw so much.
The Renault 4 and trailer has shifted the lot.
Need the digger to level it all now and get ready to spend a fair bit on the concrete.
Stay Safe all.

Morning, all. Mince pies and stock today. Maybe a little walk.

Arthur Christmas is a tradition in this house. Alternately howling with laughter and pretending there's a bit of dust in my eye ;) We get a bit closer to Christmas though.

Watched 21 Bridges on Netflix last night. Great film and surprised at the quality both of the picture and soundtrack given we were in the cinema.

Have a great day, all

I suspect it will be early summer before we get to a point where enough people are vaccinated to effectively turn society back on; and presently no one is sure how long they will last as 'effective', so we could be going round and round for some time yet.
I understand from various readings that the vaccine for 'SARS Coronavirus 1' (c.8000 people innoculated in 2003) has provided full immunity for 17 years so far. So for 'SARS Coronavirus 2' ( Covid 19) there is hope at least that these vaccines could promote a similar immune response. Let's hope so.

Many people get a flu jab annually, though. It's not beyond the wit of man.

Yes... in fact worse as my pension contributions were increased by £250 pcm and I have 7 years added on to my retirement age as well (and less pension)... so probably have the same take home wage as I did in 2004.

Don't believe Gov hype that us Civil Servants have this and that and a gold plated pension... the words are just there to sway public opinion to supporting the next rounds of cuts in that profession.

Oh and MPs wage rise is still going ahead BTW.
Well I worked in the private sector for 36 years and for the last 7 years of my career I didnt get a single pay rise. Reason, because I was seen as an "annomally" and in the age of transparent salaries, those of us who fell into this position (through no fault of their own by the way) were heavily penalised. This ultimately flowed through to my pension now. So its not just the civil service who get shafted, so do many in the private sector to.

Morning, world of SM.

@MarkMas , I hope MarkMas the Elder is battling on well.

Yesterday was more digging and concreting in two steel gate posts plus a few random errands and a very nice coastal walk. Posts are looking good and solid. Just needs the gates finished now, which hopefully will be another week or two. No clue what today holds in store. Not much, with any luck.

No payrise or inflation rise also in the private sector from 2008 to 2018 until moved job. Not looking good again now with covid etc.
Don't talk to me about pensions in the private sector either, what pension?
So absolutely many in the private sector get shafted too totally agree.

Morning all.

Thank you, yes, he seems to be rallying. The Doc said that at that age the 'biological range' between being well, ill and dead is quite thin, and if once one thing goes wrong you risk a cascade of failures, but the crisis of Thursday night seems to be over, at least. Until the next thing. NHS is rather wonderful.
