The advances in prostate (enlargement/cancer) have been huge over the last few years, so I would say that whatever the diagnosis, he will be in good hands.
Both my father, 2 uncles and grandfather all had prostate cancer and they all survived.

More people die with prostate cancer rather than of it. Anyway, best wishes.

Morning, all. Back home and working from home. Off again on Sunday so planning on making the most of some family time today and tomorrow. Both boys are home at the mo so it'll be good to have the fam back together.

Have a good Friday, everyone.

Afternoon all, out this morning for a very successful meeting.

So just doing the follow up now. And then getting the final bits over to my accountant to do my accounts.
Which I've decided is much better than doing them in December which is when I normally get round to doing them.

Looking forward to a chinese and a bottle of fizz to celebrate getting everything sorted regarding our house.

Good Afternoon,
Well done Mark, finally in the throws of getting our Mortgage application over the line, had to take a 60% reduction in take home to come back to the UK to secure a mortgage......yep, barmy, and now I have just spent 40 minutes on the phone to HMRC, only to be told I cant put my military pension on basic rate tax until my new employment is registered, yep, I cant even tax myself more.......
Think a beer (n+1) is in order............

It's mental how they work out mortgages.

The same lender (Santander) who we applied with first, wouldn't give me a mortgage because my income went up 40k a year.
However, a friend of Alex's who is self employed and earns about 30k a year less than me, they were happy to give her a mortgage because she earns the same amount all the time. Albeit a **** site less than what I earn.

The worst bit, she's borrowing more than we want!

You couldn't make it up!

Yep, We bank with Santander, and basically even though they could see what money goes in, there was no way they would lend as I was abroad. As I said, now I am home on a lot less they will lend......after 3 months probation......Once the mortgage is through I will be looking to abscond abroad again though, which makes a mockery of it really. Just had the news we should get the offer through next week.

I bank with Santander as well. For both personal and business banking!

Mortgages rules are screaming bloody mad.

My youngest lad is starting his first job and renting a flat with a mate. As he's not been employed they both need a guarantor, on a joint and several liability basis. Enter stage left two sets of parents. Now, as I also haven't been in my current job for long and am subject, apparently, to a probationary period, my status as a guarantor isn't valid. Happily my boss was perfectly fine to provide the necessary reference to assure the letting agent that I'm good for the money if the lad defaults. Bloody palaver, innit.

Had some fun viewing properties this morning.
Favourite contender had a beautiful original floor downstairs.
Let's see what happens.
I will need to take a small short term mortgage to be able to do it so we will see what they make of my financial situation along with my employment here in France.

Had same with daughter, I couldn’t be guarantor as working in Denmark. However they were happy to take 12 months payment ( from me) over phone. Then daughter pays me back.....

I got off lightly, then. A South African mate of mine in NL has to pay his daughter's UK uni fees and accommodation annually in advance.

Morning All,
I’ve just put more coal on t fire......it’s not cold but I likes the glow.
Friends have had their inoculations and are heading up from Somerset as we speak so I guess there will be, proper beer, wine, port(he’s ex military), food and chatter and a probable headache to look forward too.
Have a good weekend Dave...
