I know you're gonna laugh but Coronation Street is unbearable to watch at the moment, and I don't mean a jokey way. Acting and production is way above as it used to be, and far better than most recent TV and film shiite I've seen.

So sad at the moment. I'm in tears...

Take the piiss if you want, watched it since I was a kid, part of my upbringing, but I'm a bit of a soft cuunt!

Mindhunter on Netflix - about the development of the FBI’s serial killer profiling techniques and based around actual US serial killers. Quite disturbing at times but also with some good humor

Not seen a decent film for ages,

1st post , a decent film
How do you think it’s funded..?

Selling quality drama worldwide mostly i'd think, I doubt they generate anything like the revenue for advertising they used to when 15m viewers was the norm

I never watch live TV , always start watching the recording 20 mins in then FF through them, I might suffer it if it was in HD but it's not so **** them and their adverts :D

It's a mix. Ad revenues are certainly down with a greater share of spend landing with Google, Facebook and other online money-making machines, but ITV would die if ad revenues collapsed completely. Its content and studios business is doing well, but from a small start a few years ago. Remember that as a public company ITV's shareholders expect it to make a profit, so we owe it to them to watch their ads. They'll not survive only on creating and selling content around the world, especially when buyers and us avid viewers have so much to choose from these days.

Spoken like a shareholder :D

Fortunately technology means I don't have to suffer adverts so where possible I avoid them

I'm not, but I do have a vested interest in a vibrant and healthy TV and digital entertainment industry, and that won't happen if it's not funded.

It's mostly funded by Netflix Amazon Prime and HBO/ SKY which is where the best dramas are , UK TV just doesn't have the budget for the likes of game of thrones , it's very cutthroat in America though , if they don't get the ratings it's gone

I liked deadwood but it got canned just as it was getting going , took them 10 years to make the film that wound it all up

I actually miss blockbusters , I used to like calling in on the way home , 3 for £10 for 3 nights

Might as well put it in here

Does the name Shaun Greenhalgh mean anything

He was the forger who fooled the art world until he got caught

Just watching Made In Bolton on iplayer BBC4

The man is immensely talented in a health robinson kind of a way and it's quite fascinating watching him make copies of various works of art

Also tvchaos.com is a gold mine for UK telly, new and old, some right memories on there. It's just been rebuilt and they say they're open to new subscibers. It's torrents tho, you have to seed back or you're booted off.
Hmm, I’ve never had the chance to watch the Dennis Potter stuff, thanks for the tip.

Just watched JOKER and wow! If you haven't seen it just go. Phoenix is utterly brilliant. Devastatingly sad and depressing but stunning in equal measures

Just watched a film everybody should go and see

Official Secrets

Fantastic cast and totally gripping right to the end , one of the best films I've seen this year but those based on fact usually are

As opposed to Gemini Man ,I missed 20 minutes because I fell asleep , sadly 10 people watching official secrets, Gemini man 2/3 full

Watched all 5 episodes of Chernobyl in one go on a plane last week. Fantastic and illuminating - no pun intended
Downloaded that on sky plus to watch whilst here in Cyprus - only to get “enter sky password” FFS - I can’t make it work!

Watched El Camino on Netflix. Its a nostalgic look back at the Breaking Bad series and gives some closure to the end of the story.
I'd give it 5 out of ten.
