Watch last breath, it’s a film length documentary. Unreal and scary real footage.

Not seen a decent film for ages, seems TV is the new film, so much good stuff and not limited to the 90 min attention span of the average cinema-goer.

Good telly;

Years and Years
Killing Eve
Bodyguard
After Life
Sally4Ever (bit disgusting)
This Time With Alan Partridge
Detectorists

Good recent films;

Really can't think, some good older stuff, anything my Ken Loach or Mike Leigh, or Christopher Nolan, though Dunkirk was poor I thought. Couple of Irish movies I caught while over here;

The Guard
Calvary

BBC showing a new production of War of the Worlds, looks good, tho Begby from Trainspotting is in it, the bufty!

And looking forward as always to Loach's newest 'Sorry We Missed You'.

What We Do in the Shadows. Funny as ****. I watched it on a flight and it's laugh out loud funny.

Also, Yesterday, which is utterly joyful.

That looks good tho, watching the trailer....

Locke was another un-Hollywood movie, Tom Hardy, filmed just in his car as his whole life comes apart on hands-free on the M1...

Line of Duty
Cobra Kai :)lol2:)

Some good big budget movies, but nothing totally wonderful. Dark Phoenix was OK. Red Sparrow rather darker. (Just watched on the plane)

I think we've got over the 90 minute blockbuster format, it's always the same especially from Hollywood, predictable. We've got UHD, FCE (Full Cinematic Experience) in our front rooms, we need need more challenging stuff. There are challenging movies out there, but I think TV/Netflix etc have really excelled. Hollywood is same old, same old.

The Hollywood studios are expected to turn a profit and hence are risk averse, which is why it's all the same superhero chunder coming out and little with any spark to it. Making major films costs a packet and they don't bet lightly. Netflix is sitting on billions in debt and is more willing to take a bet on slightly off piste content. Amazon is making a killing from us all getting stuff delivered to our houses and is using Prime to learn even more about our deepest, most intimate thoughts and tastes, so is also happy to invest in a a broad spread of content to sell to us.

Just got back from watching Joker

It's as dark as the critics say it is , quite disturbing

Censorship is swayed by the studios for sure, joker is a 15 , last week I saw ready or not which was advertised as a horror film but it's more of a gory thriller
18 cert though because of severed heads and blood BUT it's nowhere near as dark and disturbing as Joker but an 18 cuts the audience down by a good margin.

I saw the first ep of Criminal: UK, very good, first 20 mins is David Tennant saying ‘No comment’ without a hint of emotion...

Watch "Confession" on ITV true story based on the murder of Sian O'Callaghan in Swindon in 2011. Martin Freeman plays DCI Steve Fulcher who at the time arrested the suspect. Compelling story.

ITV hub annoys me too much , it's not in HD and you have to watch the adverts , it'll probably be on itv3 soon though so I'll keep an eye out for it

Thanks for this. What a great watch - like Lillehammer meets Six feet under. Loved the karma, the Karma and the QP.

For a mingy £3.99 you get ad-free and you can watch live and recorded in EU (as long as we're in)

Also tvchaos.com is a gold mine for UK telly, new and old, some right memories on there. It's just been rebuilt and they say they're open to new subscibers. It's torrents tho, you have to seed back or you're booted off.
