Ooohf that’s a nasty kick in the gearbox that!

I’d have to see the repair in person before I could past comment on the quality of the repair and it would be unfair to comment without seeing it.

He has no idea of the damage yet he has full history...

Oh, he knows. I pointed him in the direction of the Copart listing. Which means the eBay listing is arguably a misrepresentation and he runs a real risk of a claim against him. Despite being a private seller, if a buyer proceeded on the basis of the listing.

At £15k I would have thought this would sell assuming the repairs are good. Even if you didn’t know which workshop repaired it if it were my car I would get one of the known reputable dealers to produce a report and photo the repairs and provide some evidence the body or chassis is not twisted and has been well fixed.

I finally just like to say again that having read the comments on that forum I really do feel that on the whole they are just a gang of very sad individuals who more likely than not have never owned a Maserati or anything like it nor ever will."

I don't really give two hoots about what the seller thinks of the sad individuals on here. Never have.....never will.

A CAT car can be a great way to get into a car at a lower price. It can also be a nightmare if repairs have been bodged. Without details/pics of the original damage and subsequent repairs it is all hearsay and not worth the punt at anything more than salvage/breaking value IMHO.

There are two many other better options out there to need to take a punt on a car like this GS. It is hardly rare or difficult to find a better alternative.

Coupled with the attitude of the seller If give it a very wide berth. Hope it stays in the back of his garage for a very long time.

I think a bit more open description would help. Hard rear damage, repaired to reasonable standard, new owner may want to replace bumper and missing spoiler, but can enjoy as is. Priced accordingly. What's wrong with that? But the cloak and dagger stuff and skirting round things, doesn't really win friends,or potential customers.

Agreed. I just can't see eye to eye with very dismissive closed minded sellers/people. The market and world is a big place. An open mind and attitude helps cater for a wider audience. Why alienate people for no reason?

One thing I have learnt is that you never know who someone is, what they are about, who they know etc etc. I never judge a book by it's cover and never judge people by their attitude or social skills. There are some very clever and very rich people that you wouldn't imagine so.

I don't have millions but if I ever did you wouldn't know the difference to how I am now. I like to keep under the radar and keep people guessing as to what I am thinking, doing and what I'm about.

Sometimes and more often than not, less is more. In the case of a CAT car more is more. The more you know of the original damage and repair the better. Less is often lazy or hiding something often known.

When this car reared it sorry head a few years ago after it was first repaired it was noted to have the wrong exhaust, wrong boot lid and poor paint match (standard 4200 parts were used rather than GS).

At that time it was for sale at the repairing garage, a crappy little one in the Midlands.

So quality repair it is not.

This is quite entertaining... The guy sounds like a wideboy

The dealer who sold me my car used a similar description for people on hobby forums like this. He later went on to claim that he "forgot" to register my warranty and then blocked my phone number.

Are GS rear light clusters just filled with red ink that comes out when you have a crash?

Wonder what's wrong with the blu med 4200 manual spyder, no visible signs of damage
Looks OK, bargain for someone, only (very) minor scratches, nothing that a good polish will take out no doubt. 81k miles so plenty of life in the old girl

It’s a pretty big job actually as it’s Bianco fuji which is a 3 stage pearl paint. It would need the whole car painting too, and two screens. I’d reckon on about £10k to repair so car is probably worth no more than £10k as it is.

Or, get new screens in, a decent wrap and you have a very useable car for a fraction.
3 grand for that lot, then you're quids in.
