if anyone is need a boat surveyed, now or in the future my brother is a marine surveyor based on of West Mersea but travels to extensively across the SE.
Am sure a SM discount could be negotiated

Here’s something a bit smaller. A 20ft Bristol from Star Yachts. Hand built wooden boat from Bristol, with a 57hp turbo Diesel engine giving about 20 knots. About £75k inc Vat. Oh, and a very lovely copper bottom as standard!

Looking back on my boating I realise that the last boat I bought which was only a couple of years old cost me the same as both the 4200's that I had.
I loved the fun of having the boat out on the water but probably no more than 30 days a year due to effort involved and the weather.
The Maserati was fun too and both of mine got used every week in between sharing the love with my other cars.
Just my thoughts.

Like I said, a boat show would be ruinous for me. You're bringing the ruin straight into the palm of my hand, Ewan!

Another couple from the current Southampton Boat Show. A Nautitech catamaran and a Moody monohull - both a bit below 50ft and both around the half a Million mark. Both companies use Coppercoat, as seen on both these examples.

I'll take the Moody. Just need to work out where to keep it.
And how to find the money to buy it.
And find the money to run it.

Those 'deck saloon' Moody boats look like a catamaran had it's way with a mono hull.
That enormous low open transom is fine and dandy until you're in high seas and a wave
crashes over said transom and fills the boat from stem to stern. Your engine and electrics
are swamped and now you wish you'd paid attention when those nice Moody people
offered to show you how the life raft worked.
Don't even talk about trying to go upwind anywhere bar The Serpentine. The bottom of the boat
is so flat, that your bottom will feel like you've been gang raped by several troops of sex starved,
viagra enhanced, mountain gorillas.
I can understand why a large motor yacht can cost a few million, at the shallow end of the market.
I do not understand where half a million odd quid goes before options, in the case of a fifty foot
sailboat. The manufacturers have spent the last fifty years making sailboats cheaper to construct
and more and more resembling a house. But, a house sits on foundations and ground that, because
we're British and God's favourites, doesn't move around too much.
Contrast that to salt water. That moves a lot. Is unpredictable. And loves to punish hubris.

The transom isn’t quite as low and open as you might imagine, and the DS design means you don’t feel like you’re living in a dungeon when spending a few months cruising around the Med (for example). But as with any boat, you need to buy the one that best fits the use you intend it for.

I now realise I was a little misleading on size/price also. This particular Moody is the 41. If you get to 50ft or so, you are much more likely to be around the £1M mark.
