Harry's Garage - McLaren 650s to the SFrance on the best back roads I know - seems great minds think alike using good old fashioned maps (Michelin) to plan route and putting all luggage into a big bag and just taking a bit in to the hotel each night - except we have a big bag with wheels in case of the unmentionable (and also take a rucksack for that same reason) - sorry I don't know how to attach the link

Myself and Ms French loved that one especially as next Sunday we'll be on our way down to the South.
It's going to be warm and I've just asked her to decide if she wants to go in the Porsche Boxster or the Jaguar XJ6 so we'll see

Yeah she's a drop top the one I took to Newent last year but it's going to be hot and as it's RHD Ms French doesn't feel comfortable in what she thinks is the driving seat so it's going to be sold this year as we don't use it much together.

It's a great video, I really enjoyed it.
Metcalfe comes off better than Clarkson though, who seemed to have some 'old man shouts at cloud' style complaints in there.
On the one hand he's a motoring journalist, and perhaps the worlds best known one at that.
On the other, he drives a white Jag that he didn't want to buy in white, but for some reason did despite it not being a particularly rare or unusual car, that's from 2013, has '13' on the number plate and claims to not know how old it is despite the reg plate style being in place for 25 years (and it being rather obvious!).
I know better than others, except I don't know enough to buy a car in a colour I like is an odd message.
I wish the whole argument had moved a little more towards the analogue nature of older cars in the peak discussion rather than becoming too much about the nanny state beeping of modern cars.
I don't think peak car is an old Jag, and I highly doubt it's a track focussed saloon Jag that recently needed it's whole suspension replaced as it was likely broken from factory
On the final hand (as my narrative here is worse than the one in the video!) I'm glad they are talking about the nanny state beeping **** (as is Chris Harris in his latest podcast) as it's gone too far and needs reigned in before someone is distracted by the million things going on, misunderstands the tone of a beep and accidentally hurts someone.

Basically he's courting controversy and reaction. His MO for the past 30 years IMHO.
Don't get me wrong, I quite like(d) the guy, but my view he's in it not to educate or inform, but to provoke, entertain and amuse.

Absolutely spot on, though, I always feel his TV persona (particularly 'new' Top Gear, Grand Tour, Clarkson's Farm) is very much influenced by the writers, and Andy Wilman as producer, so as you say, he's an entertainer - an actor. Perhaps some of it has rubbed off as I always felt he was at least somewhat knowledgable. Perhaps not a car geek, but at least interested in cars, assuming that the whole of his career wasn't scripted of course.
As I said above, Metcalfe comes off better than Clarkson.
