+1, gripping stuff. Documentary was made in '82 but may have been the '81 race. 5 years before my first. Hard to imagine anything so dangerous being allowed today and that's just the strippers and snakes!

Yep it was ‘81. Porsche won with the 956 in ‘82. Which seems like quite a leap from the cars in the vid.

He's probably tapping that huge screen

Elon Elon what do I do , the car isn't saving me

If it was on autopilot would it recognise driving down there is a bad idea

does look like he’s in reverse. That’s just really bad luck.

Questionable decision to proceed at all. I wonder if he might have managed to keep some power on and move to the right. Either way, pretty much a passenger.

I don’t think he chose to proceed. He’s stopped at the start of the video and I reckon that’s the point he’s decided it’s a no go. He’s tried to reverse, lost traction and slid. He’s not tried to go down the hill at all.

if he was a local then should not of ventured out considering the conditions and hilly roads in his neck of the woods, problem is i don't think anything would of helped in those circumstances, cant power out of it no matter how experienced driver and first instinct for most is to plant foot on brakes

I remember reading about a police instructor who spent 20 years teaching cadence braking before abs

He said even with all that training the first time he had to use it he went aaarrrggg with his foot ******* the brake

I've been in similar situations thankfully not hit anything but brakes, handbrake, anchor out the window if I'd had one ,stop you b@stard :D

Haha the filter doesn't like h@rd on

Maybe if he'd took his foot off the brake he'd still have some steering
that hill would've been visible a long time before he got to the tipping point though
