I think it has happened to me in the past...
Can't be 100% sure of course, but I was biding on an item (Maserati related), got outbid...
then got an email after the auction close to say 'winning bidder couldn't complete' did I still want it?
...so I said, sure, let me know if you still want to sell...after a bit of haggling I got a nice new suitcase! well pleased!

Same happened to me recently, on a set of GS alloys. Got outbid at the last minute, and then got told the other bidder didnt want it and did I want it at my last bid. When I accepted, at the last bid prior to the other person, the seller went quiet. I think it was a scam as the wheels werent ever listed again.

Hi Woody,

Agreed. I recall someone at work once, in the UK. Who bought a videocam that way.. Was contacted later and told they could have the cam and gave them a paypal account or something..with the promse of delivery next day.. payment was made no camera turned up. Police were called/involved but told him this is common. Thats probably why I don't buy anything on ebay or the like unless its in expensive or you do your research on the seller beforehand and its not always easy to find out what you want to know. So then you have to decide if its just a private punter or a REAL business. Or a small time shark...!!! trying to make a quick buck.

Yeah, I thought at the time that something wasn't quite right...
I made it clear I was not interested at my last bid, and gave him a new lower bid,
we then negotiated a price in the middle.
The truth is, I would have been happy to pay a higher price, but was put off by the shenanigans.

Yes, guys..seller needs 100% feedback......preferably 200-300+ items bought and sold.....and the items concerned ( if possible) similar in type and cost to the one you are buying.

I also try to shoot off a few questions to them to see what communications are like.....buyer beware etc...

Apparently, this has sold for £42k. The vendor craciously PM'd a few guys to gloat on the other site. Nowt as ***** as folk.

Call me Mr cynical but this is exactly what i would say if i had all this flack...and then advertise it again in a few weeks on autotrader Top marques LOL.
Its low milage is not a good thing for a 4 year old car.
I had a look at a Mv Agusta F4 that was 4 years old that had sat in the "owners" large sitting room on a paddock stand as an ornament for 3 years with approx 750 miles on the clock.
The seals and gaskets had most likely all "dried out" and everything had built up mild corrosion including the inside ot the petrol tank and probably pistons and barrels, because it was not prepped for storage with oil in pots and a crank over and was not used for the 3 years.
Sparkies had no doubt had it and electrical contacts may also have needed some work.
Its an Italian bike and was a bit of a gamble...It had only the 600 mile service then his missus every week wiping it over with a duster and some Mr sheen for 3 years LOL!
It was in my opinion a total strip down of the engine and complete clean and replace of everything perishable.
too risky a venture as the price was premium due to low milage.
I think too few miles and no service history can be worse than too many miles but well looked after.

Who in their right mind would buy a car that has done no more than four or five trips up the motorway in 4 years?
The car's either a wrong 'un with serious problems, or it's a scam.
