Great choice & very nice.

What makes you say it’s temperamental though? It shouldn’t be.
Being an old fart I have had lots of cars over the years, Jags, Range Rovers etc but none have had the mainly electrical problems this has had. It reminds me of a Alfa 164 Cloverleaf I had many years ago that had similar electrical issues--. I thing Italian electricity must be different. Don't get me wrong its a pleasure to drive with that amazing sounding 4,7 V8 and I cant think of changing it but it has been into the shop a good few times since I got it 5 years ago

My current problem( no pun intended ) its just had a brand new battery and I fully charged it using my CTEK 5.0 but when I opened the door the next morning the windows did a little up and down a bit and when I turned on the ignition the dash lights went crazy see pics. Also the radio and satnav map came on and then crashed several times in a row. Once it started which it does fine, the lights do eventually go out except the Airbag fail light which stays on. I assumed it must be something draining the battery overnight. Will get it into the repair shop once all this lock down stuff ends

Have you disconnected the battery for 20 minutes then tried again?

Hi catman

No I haven't--do you need a radio code for these cars--does that reset all the alarms--I assume its positive off first then negative and the reverse connecting back up ????

On the left of the battery, looking at it, release the negative spring connector.

that’s it other than don’t shut your boot and drop the drivers window a touch.

while your at it, locate the manual boot release under the left rear seat base (sitting in it) and pull to make sure it works if you were to shut the boot by accident.

Welcome along & enjoy the car. These cars need to be driven and once lockdown is over, I'm sure that everyone's electrical issues and various creaks and squeaks will be significantly reduced

Now back in the garage for the third time with this power issue--they have now reset every ecu and got a current meter seeing if there is a battery drain problem when the car is left for 24hrs. Lovely car when its working but this is negated by all the issues I have had. Might be a time for a change. BTW can anyone recommend Autoffacina in Epsom as I may look for a different garage from now on

Get them to check if its the onboad tracker , when the tracker internal battery fails it maintains itself from the main battery

Maybe take it to a specialist auto electrician. Sure like a lot of (semi) exotic cars many of us have learnt to use CTEKs but that's about it. I'm still on my factory battery after nine years.

I would not sell the car on the back of it, it just needs a specialist.

Hi Bigbob, It is a lovely car to drive--I have a CTEK 5.0 I use when I'm not going to drive it for a while but I did hear that AGM batteries don't like being left on charge for long periods ?????. Don't really want to sell it but I do need a car that isn't always in a garage being fixed

Hmmm

It had a AGM when I got it and the garage just replaced like for like

Not that it'll make any difference, mind.

Is the battery actually going flat? I mean we all assumed it, but what's the measured voltage when it's playing up? Resetting the ECU's smells rather like BS to me. If the battery is going flat, then something is draining it. Finding out what is a pretty simple process of (tedious) elimination. Performing 'ECU resets' is unlikely, I'd wager, to be beneficial.
