Swap cig lighter for USB

2 questions...

Firstly - I saw this thread: ""Cig lighter to USB port" and thought it would be a good idea (and fairly straightforward).

Since my cigarette lighter doesn't seem to work I checked the fuse (F44 20amp) but it seems fine visually. Is there anything obvious to check?

Secondly - I did however find a few wires which have been trimmed for some reason. Any idea why these would be cut?

That in line fuse makes me think it's a hack of a removed aftermarket something or other.

Check the fuse with a meter. They don't always look blown.

Those wires aren't OEM, neither is the separate inline fuse holder. I would expect they were a supply for a dash cam or satnav that were then cut off when no longer needed. Hopefully there isn't a fuse in the holder as cutting wires and taping the ends is sub-optimal for preventing short circuits.

You may need a back up plan for the plug in air compressor, having no spare I wouldn't be without mine.
