Im based in Horley and have used Sussex Coachworks for a bit of paintwork on an old daily driver. Repair of a scratch and parking dent on front wing.
I suspect this may be the place that you refer to with the bumpy entrance!

Have to say their work was perfect and Im very very fussy! Good people to deal with and the price was also very reasonable. Match was spot on. (Mineral grey BMW)

Thanks for the tip... I think I’ll pay your suggestion a visit.

The place I was referring to was ‘Ian Taylor body repairs’ in Horley itself. I took my BMW (Sterling Grey!) for a respray and refit of my front bumper last year... wasn’t 100% happy because the bumper to date hasn’t been fit completely flush with the front wings, and I’m convinced my wheel arch liners are smashed because they drove my low E39 over the cratered surroundings at speed.

I have had a couple of bad experiences with bodyshops over the years too. Hate it! All good if you know a good one but its so infrequent for most of us, you end up doing your best to choose as well as you can, then crossing your fingers!

Worst I ever experienced was an Aston Martin approved bodyshop in London. My Vantage was away for months and months, returned to them countless times, damaged in areas that had nothing to do with the repair it went in for and so on. I wouldn't employ them to paint my fence.

I got the recommendation from a local VW mechanic that had some pretty interesting cars that he used Sussex to paint. Dont let the facilities put you off. Its not a flash establishment:)

Very valid points indeed! Looking at some of the other reviews of Sussex, in addition to your positive appraisal, I feel reassured - beyond the quality of the work, sometimes working with someone helpful and approachable on the phone makes all the difference, which seems to be the case here. With the body shop I used before the words grumpy, old and git come to mind... again their work wasn’t overly bad, just not great, and the service not overly inspiring.

If nothing else it’ll be a good excuse to go for a blat and get out of the house!!
