It's hard to believe that people do these things but one of my Aussie friends said they did something similar to a Holden once. Working as labourers on some farm in the middle of nowhere they tried to kill a Holden, having driven it over all sorts of surfaces all summer it is still alive so they chained it to a tree, wedged the throttle fully open, knocked it into D and stood back.
He said it rev'ed itself insane, and dug two channels in the dirt, but kept on going longer than they could bear to listen to it. So they unchained it and carried on using it.
Why do that? I've no idea.
