Hi

I've been away all week and had EPB off, nipped out to post a letter and come back to the GTS started her up gone into gear and feels like n/side parking brake still engaged

I've tried turning it off reset alarm, put it into EPB off and turn it off, handbrake on and off... It's been wet moist and horrid here so wondering if damp locked it in

Is it time to call the AA or any magic I can do, only just had new battery fitted a few weeks ago and done a few hundred miles of long drives since

Help

call the AA rather that risk it freeing itself off if you move it, may as well make them earn their £150

What was wrong with a lever and a cable, it's worked perfectly well for 100 years.

I was talking to my mechanic last week, he's in blackburn where it's hilly, if you have a cable and it snaps, you know its snapped because the handbrake lever hits you in the ear, if an electronic handbrake cable snaps how do you know it's snapped, when it's rolling down the hill.

something else that didn't need inventing, like electric power steering

Yes I don't understand the electric brake. Is it because they use it as a hills start brake as well that comes on automatically?

It kinda makes sense in the GT as there is no way to balance the car on a hill with the clutch.

However we also have it on the loan Vauxhall Astra 1.4 manual my wife currently has. Why you need it on that is beyond me.

Power steering. If it is implemented well helps with parking especially if you have a heavy steered car.

I trust you got it sorted ok Stewart? Did the AA manage to diagnose the problem or just recover you?

Managed to get it home at 1.00 am after 9 hours of being stuck there. Challenge is can't get it sorted for next weekends driving and weekend of fun as I'm away in Malta working from Wed ... Need a mobile maserati mechanic to repair in the driveway to have any chance of getting it running

That's a **** of a wait, I hope any mobile mechanic you find is quicker than your recovery service - good luck with getting it fixed for next weekend

Sorry been a chaotic weekend, managed to get it home on Sat morning at 1.00 am and been trying to see if could get it looked at since as its my 4th day off this year and its dry, sunny and perfect day that I had booked to drive to the lakes !!!!! something to do with the EPB drum, something inside there is locked and the wheel wont turn.

Looks like will miss out on this weekend as well as away with work from Wednesday at 4.00 am..... annoyed as weather is awesome and have new tyres to burn in...

Was it raining when you applied the handbrake?

It sounds like the pad material stuck to the inside of the drum. Not unknown.
