Any one got any experience of straight through rear pipes instead of back boxes on a 3200? I would imagine they would sound awesome, but I am wondering if its legal sound levels and indeed if the noise in the cabin is extreme? Anyone got these or been in a car with them fitted? I think some of the French cars on the centenary run had them?

Contigo had straight throughs on his 3200. It sounded like a tug boat because of the turbos. I'm sure he has a video of it sailing out of port somewhere .

Here it is :
bllody heyl thats sounds OTT. that sounds like the front boxes and CAT's have been removed also perhaps? This is my fear that its possibly a bit too over the top for a man of my age :)

FFS Davy, be a man! I’ve just sports catted the Jaaag which makes it virtually a straight through. If you don’t need hearing protection to drive it, then it isn’t too loud. Grow a pair Sister. :D

Yeah, but it does sound like there's a war going on in your exhausts. Heavy artillery fire on both sounds. Even at standstill, there's a major bar brawl going on in there.

I've got a 4200 with the Quiksilver "straight through" rear boxes and it certainly isn't as loud as the 3200 above. I haven't got a video but its definitely deeper and louder than normal but not excessively so (my neighbours would struggle with the one above !).. so maybe the 3200 did have other mods ?

Mine has straight through rear boxes, and some other stuff ;), officially been warned its not big and it's not clever and to get it sorted, in a nice sort of way
Doesn't bother me driving any sort of distance though.

I believe if no muffler/back box is detected/seen IE straight through it is an MOT failure, however I have ran them through friendly MOT centres with the advisory of "Loud Exhaust".

They do lose alot of their original tone and refinement, or atleast that's what I found with the Granturismo.

doesnt sound bad inside the cabin really. I guess there is no point of reference in that video like a conversation to compare it with!!

There is a silencer up near the cats so its not a completely straight through system. with straight through back boxes it would be like my old TVR Chimeara, which was noisy but nice!

Nope, no conversations allowed in the Mazzer, nah to be fair long distances aren't a problem for me or even the Mrs, it just sort of blends into the background, tyre noise is worse sometimes.

My neighbours complained that the car is too noisy
It has bespoke sport exhausts fitted, the sound is glorious when you stand outside and actually not too loud when cruising.
We recently did a 700mile trip and my son and my wife loved it..

If you want to hear the engine, open the window a little bit. No need to harm others' eardrums.

There was me thinking i might scratch a 14 year itch and i appear to have opened a can of worms, I am detecting two camps here :). If i have the energy i would swap them over regular to alter the noise and the experience and keep the neighbours sweet.
