Don't the main dealers for Maserati have very limited options for putting a car through their showrooms?.. both age and miles.

I 'm not sure we are? Sytner Select is designed to shift px cars that main dealers will not have / do not want to warranty. If this was any good it would be in a Sytner group Maserati dealership. (IMO of course :))

I certainly don't disagree with you. It will need something but It doesn't make it a dog I suppose.......No reason why it's not a good car that's needs some work........Tempted to phone and get details just to put my mind at rest...

Maserati dealer are notorious for not wanting anything 5 years old and this car falls into this. Look at the other 2 for seaters for sale at main dealers...75k and 2016..... It may be that they are not retailing it because it's to old for them......Never thought this was a good advert for the marque when their own dealers shy away from the older cars.

Looking at the Maserati UK website they only sell approved pre owned cars up to 6 years old, that’s the limit of their warranty

Thought it would be a Warrenty issue........So who knows this car may be a good one.....either way it looks bloody lovely.

Extra Camponario means special order paint. The car appears to be Bianco Eldorado and not Fuji.
I'd guess it's not Bianco Eldorado, because the anti-chip film on the rear quarters looks distinctly yellower than the paint. One mine the two are the same colour.

Threads like this always mystify me.

If I was buying a car from the most respected dealer/independent or a backyard dealer, I would ALWAYS get it checked out.

Unless, the price is so low by comparison to market, you can take a punt.

Same rules always apply. What's the big deal?

In fairness it is January, it is lockdown, it’s the cheapest time to buy one.

it will still need a clutch in 5k miles assuming it’s not been done already.

This car may be part of Sytner select but it's being sold by Tamworth BMW main dealer so I can't imagine it's a lemon as the dealings I have had with BMW dealer is that they don't knowingly sell cr4p......

So if it needs about 5k work it's still a pretty good price as most seem to be around 57/58k for a 2014 car......

Completely agree .... in a normal world I would be tempted to drive over as it is local (ish) to me

Whereas my experience of BMW has been appalling to the point I will never ever own one again. And the Sytner select team I dealt with simply had an office in a BMW main dealer but that was about the only similarity.

Fingers crossed this is a good one and the new owner is happy.

cant understand why you're tarnishing all bmw main dealers with the same brush, i've had sh1t experiences with some main dealers but doesn't put me off the brand entirely, i just go to another out of the area who provides better customer service

I've used 7 different locations (and more franchises) across multiple years over the 20 plus years and all have disappointed unless I have virtually forced myself upon them to put down a deposit for a new car. This started in 2005 when I was running a brand new 525 .... I was ignored when I first enquired by phone, I was not taken seriously when I spoke to a salesman and even when we were discussing options I had to get the Sales Manager involved as the Salesman was adamant I didn't really want a manual.

The servicing experience was also shocking - I gave them a 2nd chance (they failed) and then tried a new dealer. I did over 100,000 miles in a bit over 3 years so gave them a good lump of money. I chopped that for another 5 series because I thought another dealer would be better - 2 dealerships didn't even call me back and 1 told me that nobody would buy a manual 5 series.

Another dealership point blank refused to let me test drive a 6 series and when I did buy another BMW, as soon as I drove away they couldn't have been more disinterested. And my experience in terms of servicing got worse and I had to threaten to take them to court over damage that they did to the car and claimed was already present. In 2015 (after multiple BMWs and over a quarter of a million miles) I chopped in my 6 series and walked away from the brand forever.

I appreciate what you are saying about generalisation but life is too short for me to endure shoddy service.

FWIW I did consider buying an i8 when I bought my GT but as no dealer showed any interest in letting me have a test drive, I stayed away.

Interestingly, I have found Mercedes to be even worse (as has a friend who is a lifelong Mercedes owner and wanted an AMG GT but couldn't even get a dealership to call him back).

Maserati on the other hand has shown me what true customer service is.

Now that's is a lot of bad experiences...…..Dick Lovett is the way to go no matter what you are buying......I have never had a bad experience with any of their dealerships from Mini, BMW, Aston Martin, Maserati etc...….

I've not used DL but that is reassuring to hear.
