I'm a bit puzzled.....How can you have an impact like that and not set off a single airbag?

If it's over 5 years old they might not go off as disable after 5 years. I've heard a couple of people in the car business tell me this.

Surely if that’s the case the driver should get a notification/ warning light as that’s a pretty massive safety feature out the window!

I said the same thing but apparently it is not uncommon. I was told the Audi R8 has these issues but this is unconfirmed by Audi. Maybe the next big scandal pending!

The airbags didn't go off in my 2004 E55K recently when I bumped I to the back of someone. Not sure if they only trigger over a certain speed as it was fairly low speed.

Lots of sensors in airbag systems and yes you do need to be going over a set speed for it to deploy... and the car needs to be running.

Most manufacturers list a life for airbags and seatbelt pretention systems of c12 years. After that there is no guarantees it will deploy.

The blue car may have been hit when stationery and I note it appears to have the same dash as the Cat Strad we have discussed recently... sad to see the burnt out one too.

How selfish is that?! Get an ultra-rare 2 seat Strad in blue, then stuff it. Criminal.

I'm pretty sure the owner did show their face on here, had only had the car a few months, and found out the hard way you don't use race mode on a wet road! as you say Ewan, criminal.
