Sticky windows

Can anyone advise me?
A year into my QPV ownership the driver's window, previously brisk to raise or lower, has become lethargic and now sticks about 1/3 of the way up (It finishes its journey if I hold the the switch and the engine is running.)
I would be grateful if anyone could tell me what the likely causes and fixes are.

Sounds like its the window motor itself that is breaking down. However you could try taking the door card off and making spraying the channels the window runs up and down in with silicone spray. Spray the window regulator as well and make sure its firmly attached as if it is slightly out of line the motor has to overcome the increased resistance.

I personally believe that similar issues are caused by the use of wash/wax that builds up and causes greater friction between the seals.

May be worth using washing up liquid to see if that will lubricate the window channels and an old tooth brush to srub them clean. Don't leave the liquid in there to dry or you will make it worse.

I was advised to regularly clean between the rubbers and the glass with a cotton bud - if nothing else dirt gets trapped there and scratches the glass - a bit more of a problem with a spyder that is always driven with the roof down as long as it's not raining.

Thank you all. It's good to hear that there is reason to hope that cleaning it will fix it.
I'm a bit worried though by the post from spkennyuk warning that the motor might be breaking down.
I paid due attention to all such warnings last year before I bought the car and made sure I bought one with sprightly windows. So I'm hoping that cleaning will do the trick.

WD 40 Silicone spray in to the window runners and it should glide like a dream…..or the motor is bust…

Only after cleaning otherwise you just coat the dirt and the problems will be even worse once the lubricant disperse.

Oops. Replied twice.
Thank you Safrane. Sounds like I need to strip the door, clean the guides and lubricate with WD 40 Silicone.

This^ with every service at SportsItalia, we silicone window rubbers and seat belts.

On a QP with the anti pinch, it cuts in and out due to the rubbers....well, being rubbery. A liberal of silicone spray along the scraper, round the frame channel and behind the wing mirror bit makes them work like a charm.

Although a key component of the anti pinch mechanism is a strip in the channel at the top of the door, which gets compressed to signal the window closing against something. If that goes wrong the window closing gets jittery. And that is a challenging part to replace.
