A post I did some time ago with how I dealt with this.Yes, I will try that. Any recommendation for the big surfaces like the air vents? Ammonia and scourer to remove the sticky?

Filippo Berio and Limoncello, seriously?I have just seen in YouTube that can be done first with olive oil and then alcohol
Filippo Berio and Limoncello, seriously?
I used methylated spirit with good results.
After a few weeks of searching and finding a solution for sticky buttons with decals without result. I have decided to order a laser etcher. A cheap Chinese 2 watts one for arround 500. Various forums say you can remove paint from plastic parts. I have experience with graphics design and 3d printing, but not with laser etching . So it will be a nice one.
I did remove all vents from my car and removed all sticky material. Resprayed the sides in Chrome and the rest in matte black. Looks as new. The sticky buttons with icons are really annoying me. The first thing people say when they enter my car: "nice car, but what happened with all those ugly buttons??"
Did you have any luck with the laser etcher? I'm looking to do something with my sticky buttons next weekend but honestly I don't know what to do as they're mostly partly white already so too far gone.
