I know someone has posted about this before and what to clean with but I can't seem to find the post.

Various parts of the dash and door controls are sticky and slimy to the touch what's the best thing to get to try and remove the gunge pls

Saw somewhere that rubbing alcohol can remove the soft finish off the buttons. It's this that has gone sticky because of being in the sun/heat. However, apparently it can also rub of the decal on the buttons too. I bought some but haven't yet been brave enough to give it a go....

Lots on the main US Maserati forum about this...it's hotter there!

I remember when I was working at Motor Dealers, Toyota Corolla GT, B-reg or so, brand new at the time yellow with black bits, like a bee, nice looking trachko. MD's son (a salesman at the place) took a lass out in it and bonked her in the back seat leaving a quite impressive spunk stain. It really was massive!

Cloth seats, valet couldn't get it out (or wouldn't go near it!).

MD was livid, 'I can't sell a car with spunk all over it....'

None of us would go it in if it meant the back seat!

Ended up being said son's demo car, in the end I bet some poor unsuspecting sod bought it with 'slight soiling on rear seat'.....

Why not just replace the seat?

I dunno! ISTR this was a rare car in that colour/trim. Was what, too many Chimays and one left, 30 years ago? We had the spare key for it and one time we went to see REM at Manchester Apollo, 85-ish, think it was REM, him is his car, us in another demo cos no-one wanted to sit in the spunkmobile, we got out early and used the key to to drive his car off and hide it.

I have literally no memory of what happened next and I don't think it was REM, I don't recall actually seeing REM the Ardwick Apollo.....

To be honest I was young and only interested in not sitting on someone else's ****....

Should have been more specific it's to clean without removing in an old ish alfa

What kind of oldish Alfa?

If it's a 156 (GTA) then the door pulls / electric window switches clean up very nicely with thinners. I found it easier to remove the trim (2 allen head bolts), and then remove the actual switches. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to do each door - a lot of rubbing and I used plenty of thinners.
