Mailonline with it's usual standard of reporting, they missed out , (by the fire service)

Pictures taken this morning showed the black car, believed to be a Toyota, had its roof completely ripped off. It was also seen being taken away from the scene this morning

Stupid 350 driver for the speed in such a built up, busy area.
Blind GT86 driver.

However, before we all get on our high horse and get all sanctimonious, anyone that has been to Le Mans, rev'd the nuts off their car and then spun their wheels up the Arnage high street (many of us on here!) are really no different from these people. The only difference is that we've been lucky so far. God forbid the day that one of us does a Mustang style fish tail into the metal railings and seating area outside one of the bars!

Thank god no one so far has posted the classic "save it for the track" comment. The epitome of the pious bell end.

Can’t argue with that Dan even the Ditchmaster General has kept it tyre side down mostly!

that is nasty and just being shown on the 6 oclock news, this sounds interesting

That would be a Bl00dy disaster, bits of Scotland where you go from < 4 hrs dark in the summer to < 4 hrs light in the winter! Plus young shift workers who couldn’t get to work and then there are drivers who wouldn’t get any experience of night driving whilst the words of their driving instructor are fresh in their mind but instead a year or two later with a false confidence. Better to introduce the R plates like Ireland, limit it to one passenger even.

I can see the reasoning behind it, however, it does require some serious thought and consultation, is it Australia that already has something like this in place ??

New Zealand has a requirement for a new driver to have an experienced driver with them for a year on all trips (may be two years) but that also has implications for youngsters (and new drivers of any age) getting to work.

This is not fool proof either as two of mine went off to uni after passing their tests and didn’t drive for three years!

At least it's not like the 70s

I passed my test but hadn't got a car , a mate had a car but was still learning, I can't remember if I even waited for my full licence to arrive or used my provisional and pass certificate but a week later I was instructing him on a 2 day roadtrip, amazing we didn't get stopped

the police are sneaky these days , massive queue on the M6 today , chugging along when an unmarked police car comes driving down the hard shoulder with the blue lights in the grille and back window flashing

talk about inconspicuous , a grey Nissan Xtrail , that's just not playing fair

I've been going for 20 years , nobody ever leaves any other event there like this

Comedy MX5 kicks it off at 40s

Apparently the car was doing close to 80 mph. Hope all those injured make a full recovery, just awful

Quite often was pillion on my mates RD250 when he still had L-plates and use to get pulled over on a regular basis and I would show my pass certificate and provisional licence and we were allowed to go on our way. If you had no documents on you the police use to dish out a seven day wonder.
I find it strange that the police will book you for 36 in 30 in a area that this speed would never be a danger to anyone but turn a blind eye to these cruise meets. ££££

You make valid and fair points, mate, but I hope the difference is that our daftness is more to do with the noise and hard squirts for short distances, which is generally pretty close and not very fast as the next queue of traffic is never far away. Traction control is always on, too. Not that TC appeared to be a factor in this case - this seems to be a classic speed / not looking situation.

Even the police fell into the trap of being egged on at that car meet.

There is video on live leak showing a police car accelerate hard from a standing start. I have tried to post a link but although I can see it when I edit my post, it does not appear once "post it"
