Steps to cure aggressive content

Must admit the aggressive pile ons are a massive turn off even if I’m not involved. Can imagine it’s the same with people lurking/rare posters. It’s a bit like being in a pub with the annoying loud group in one section of the bar. It’s not a question of just ignoring it if it permeates an entire forum.

Let’s hope spoons doesn’t come back in disguise. There would be an overcrowding problem within a day or two.

Some longer-standing members might recall past 'contributions' from members with the initials GG and CT. Spoons, in his way, was quite easy, in comparison.

Which was what I was getting at. I'm not going to mention him a third time. (Candyman ;)). I'm sure Monsieur Flatware lurks around but now has the decency to spit his feathers on Pheads.

We have an Australian guy in there busy making brakes and suspension arms that look rather nice.
Just like the normal prisons.

I have respect for the Mods and hope this improves the site and content.

After so many years it was bound to evolve, but I look back fondly on the days when it was more about the car than peoples opinions and lifestyle; hence I spend less and less time on here.
Good points there, Peter, and well noted.

I half expecting the;
  1. What are you eating
  2. Who are you sleeping with
  3. How much hair have you
etc threads soon.

Agree and similarly less used. A great shame

People will drift in and out anyway

While I may be part of the problem with non-car related content it is because I would not be here as much if it was only about cars. I mean, how many of your friends in real life do you only talk about cars to.

Some may think that'd be a good thing, if so, my apologies

I imagine that I am not alone in being happy with a broad base of content. My issue, such as it is, is with content that is outright offensive, and in many cases, it's offensive simply to be offensive. In other cases it's clearly racist, sexist or prejudiced in other ways.

Yes, there is freedom of speech and as a recent conversation with another long standing member has shown that freedom is a spectrum and what is acceptable to some is not to others. I try and steer a middle road both with what I say and what I find acceptable <shrug>

Fully agreed and one of the reasons why I started shying away/not as active. It was becoming toxic some of these posts and basically watching certain Trolls/Characters, just freely act in very unpleasant and childish ways.

Great to hear we can hopefully move on and have some decent banter, whilst focusing on cars and great to lean into the community for wider subjects in life. Met some fantastic people via this forum, would be a real shame to see it go down like other forums where no one posts anymore…

Agree wholeheartedly, Cat. A little eccentric deviation from strictly Maserati, is fine. After all, we are all here with shared passion, and for sure, if we have a pull towards something like the Maserati, then, we'll probably be picqued by other's passions of similar tastes.
But if I want to share or discuss my other interests, or develop knowledge in spheres completely eccentric to beautifully designed Italian machina, then there are more appropriate forums.

If mindless bitching or bragging, bu$$er off to Facebook.

I've been here a while, and for a reason. Despite several years, I still adore my Maserati.

Designed without compromise. Quite unique.

This, in spades.

As a former moderator who never had to moderate anything I started to wonder what's changed so much. A look at the home page provides a view of what this site has become used for - the highest number of threads/subjects exist in Forum Chat which is meant to be 'general chat for anything Maserati'. Excluding the 5 stickies I see only 3 of the first 20 threads relevant to that description. The third highest number of threads is Humour, Jokes and other Topics which contains the highest number of posts/responses on the site by far. To me it has become very much more about opinions, lifestyle (showing off, especially) and politics (where some have been allowed to be extremely self-indulgent IMO). I can no longer identify what the life blood of this forum is any more, sadly, it's not cars or Maseratis to me. Some members could certainly conduct themselves better, but they haven't changed their way of contributing over the years; banter means different things to different people. What appears to have happened is that there are perhaps more complaints and certainly a leaning towards being easily-offended - the way of the world sadly, let's not even get started on wokeism! With such a variance of topics which are then filled with different opinions and typically allowed to run off-topic is it any wonder many spend less time here or arguments become heated? Another car-related site I now spend a lot more of my time on is managed better - topics kept to their sections, rules set out and adhered to, no politics, no showboating etc.
