It will be interesting to watch this as effectively it is just another tool manufacturers' are using to try and reduce discounts. Given how much more money BEVs currently cost than ICE models I struggle to see how it will work, however, they all seem to think they can get one up on the competition by centralising more functions and cutting out the middle man. Less dealer interface probably implies less brand loyalty and a gradual move to a leasing model where everything is bought on price, brands lose points of differentiation and discounting gets bigger rather than smaller after some initial good results.

For anyone in the car trade I would consider a career change if you are planning on working more than a decade out as the sales market will get very ugly....and service income all but disappears so nowhere to hide in aftersales.
