Hi Guys .
My steering wheel came back from being re-covered at Royal Steering Wheels on Tuesday .
They did a fab job , I had it made a bit thicker with blue stitching and a blue centre band , perforated leather in the grip area and nappa leather top and bottom , very happy .
Originally the plan was to just re-stick the leather on the airbag but one thing lead to another etc etc .521C1831-C5FC-4C88-8DC7-20C9ACA279EE.jpeg37684027-82A3-4FBB-87DF-EF8DBD584DD8.jpeg

They did mine a few years ago, similar but alcantara top and bottom instead of the napa.
It was something like £150.

That’s right , cost £140.00 plus VAT plus P&P = £177.99 , took about 2 weeks , just need it to warm up a tad so I can fit it .

Must admit there are a few bits and bobs I need to do but my garage is pretty narrow so the interior is the easier option , I have been doing the sticky vents / buttons etc too .

Great job! The leather of my airbag cover needs a bit of resticking so I might contact them.

I did that last year along with a stereo overhaul and bits like pedal cover, silver maserati script on ashtray etc.

I want to get the dash top re-stitched as it is that horrible vinyl, along with the rear quarter side panels... front door cards need to be either modified or source the 3200 or GS door cards which have the much nicer leather pocket as opposed to the useless odd shaped door pocket shelf thing in the 4200 and get it re-stitched also. Further down the line get new seat covers made I fancy some diamond stitching in the centre of the seats. I would really like suede/alcantara but common sense suggests that Nappa Leather is a much better option in terms of desirability, maintenance/cleaning and longevity

What is in the way of all this is that the car currently has no front exhaust section as I am getting new cats welded in (at least it is being sorted), have FD ARB kit to install, potentially a new clutch this year or next and all four wheels are desperate for a bare metal refurb. Plus it's time for an intermediate service so it's going to AV in a couple of weeks.

I guess this is a "war of attrition" really

Blimey - I had my wheel recovered by Kevin Baggs (close to Emblem), and it was £400 plus vat! I was ripped off.

I'm interested in getting my steering wheel (and airbag) recovered - Royal Steering Wheels quoted me the same as above but won't touch the airbag (for H&S) and also can't keep the piano wood rim it has. They proposed wrapping the rim which would only add a few mm in thickness but not the look I was hoping for

As such I've found another company (Edge) that will do the airbag and can work around the wooden rim, replacing the red "inner" leather with black Alcantara. They've quoted me £150 for the airbag (including embossing and keeping the Maser badge to keep the OEM look) and £200 for the wheel

I'm happy with that as it's cheaper than buying a new airbag and wheel
