Spyder on ebay

The implication of the advert is that this Spyder is rare, being based on the Karif. When the reality is that the rare car is the Karif, being a hard topped coupe that was based on the more numerous Spyder (such as this one).

The interior looks to be in poor repair. And if that’s the case, you can be pretty sure the metal work is rusty. So if you get the car for free, it’ll “only” be the very expensive restoration that you’ll have to pay for.

They are looking through rose coloured glasses! Needs a lot more that lacquer on the paint, not going anywhere with that back window, interior is in awful condition, the steering wheel is split. As Ewan says, I am sure there will be a fair amount of corrosion. It's a bit iffy that the photographs are taken from certain aspects of the car. A honest advert would show every angle of the car. 'Barge pole'

at that price I would buy it for spares for my car, the engine alone is worth 2k, but there's just something odd about the write up, looks like it's still abroad on foreign plates, but states in UK and will get it on V5c and mot, will have to go some, bid ID's are hidden "private" normally a sign of shill bidding/bidding up and possible fake feedback, will be interesting to see what it reaches

Yes will be interesting getting that through an MOT. Seems all a bit back to front. I think they are just testing the market to see if it is worth importing. It may be a scam but as a buyer you would have no obligation without a V5 and MOT.

The car is on EE (Escursionisti Esteri) plates which are temporary plates for cars that are to be exported so perhaps the vendor is in the process of arranging for it to be exported from Italy.

Being from Italy I would think it would be more likely to be a 2 litre domestic market model (engine code AM471) but we'd have to see more photos to be sure.

As others have said I think it would need a lot more than the quick once over the vendor is implying, there's minor corrosion on the front wing above the right headlamps, the left front wheelarch looks suspicious at the rear bottom edge, front grille insert bent, foglamps smashed (very difficult to find), and the interior and hood will need some work. I don't think it would be too bad and at the right price it could be a nice little project, but we'd have to see some more photos to see what else might need doing.

well I had a punt and bid up to £3179 in the last 5 seconds and thought I got it, but still got outbid, must of been a sniping programme that was used by either a genuine buyer or the seller to push bids up

I see he now has negative feedback from the last sale for not supplying a collection address.

I wouldn’t waste your time.

This is the problem with eBay nowadays, it's rife with shill bidding (buyers yes a third party to boost the price) or not delivering.
I tried to buy a poe router for £75 but the seller didn't deliver, I got my money back but the time to resolve the issue meant I lost out on other potential bargains.

Avoid eBay.

I am strangely attracted to the listing , I must say I quite like ebay, I've had a few duff items come through in the past and with the ebay money back guarantee (not on vehicles) it's quite easy to get your money back and the seller has to pay to get the item collected with no ifs buts or whys, if seller pisses about ebay step in and refund buyer and then presumably take the money from seller and/or knuckle rapping, you do need to be careful and use your bonce, with cars if not as described then you don't buy it, simples, I've had some real bargains on there especially on listings that have make an "offer"

You might need to adjust your medications Lol

I can understand the attraction to be honest but I would want to see it in the flesh before I would ever consider it.

sometimes you need to take a chance, I flew to Ireland for a 1971 mk3 mini cooper s a few years ago, simply from an ebay description, a few photos and a chat on the phone, the car was great got it on a boat to Liverpool and drove it all the way home to surrey, i'll have a word to the personal security room staff about the medication thing;)

I cannot see how this car has passed an MOT (a legitimate one)!!

I think as some one has already mentioned, looking at the photos it's probably still in Italy and what looks like either a breakers yard and/or garage bodywork repairers yard, seller probably gauging whether worth shipping over to uk

Pretty sure this is not worth the effort especially as it appears to be still in Europe, hence why lack of collection address
