Spyder handling transformed .

Yesterday I totally transformed the handling of my Spyder .
Coming from a VX220 ( Lotus Elise alternative ) which had very tight , on rails type handling I found the Spyder a bit wallowy and baggy , I knew about the scuttle shake but she really shook her head at certain speeds and grunting past slow moving traffic on narrow roads was a bit bum clenching .
Anyway , what did I do to bring about this transformation ? .............. pumped the bl@@dy tyres up ....Doh !
Each corner was around 20 psi , I inflated them to 32psi all round and now wow ! Just wow ! what a difference .
Happy bunny .

Quite surprising....! I put new tyres on the rear axle recently. I didnt check the pressures before I set off. It handled worse than usual, and thats saying something ! 34.3/33psi across the rear axle is enough to make it scary...( fronts were down to 31.6 on both sides- all numbers are cold)
Im decided. KW V3s all round and a sway bar upgrade..Its just too feckin' wayward...!
One day...

Haha, interesting that it made so much difference!

Was your VX an N/A or a turbo? We (well, my girlfriend, now wife) had an N/A for somewhere around 5 years. I loved it, great road presence, looked mean in the rear view. Had to change the suspension out to Exige units though, it was a bit wallowy and baggy in the corners ;)

It was an N/A , great car but not the easiest to get in and out of .8B32F834-FE45-402D-88B7-DDAC58CD38CB.jpeg

Quite surprising you drove at 20psi! You're meant to check, don't run out of oil ;)
I know , usually one of the first things I check along with the oil , didn’t realise the engine has to be up to temperature and idling when you do though :study:

Lovel car ...... Was offered one many years ago but went the Lotus route as just had a thing for Lotus. Great little cars though the Vauxhal and we have a few coming to the Sports Maserati track day at Llandow in October. Great track for them to.
