This is the standard Aluminium fuel cap for the 4200 Spyder.

And the inside.

Here you see the typical fault for the 4200 Spyder Aluminium fuel cap where the seal/breather falls out. The origional design is push fit but over time the fuel vapours shrink the rubber base and leads to the breather falling out

As you can see, the cap is a breather type so you cannot bond in the centre.

Use a suitable silicone sealant, preferably black.

Apply to only the outer area otherwise you will block the breather capabilities. Try and keep the sealant away from the threads to as this will inhibit the screw of the cap

Push into place and rotate so the sealant spreads and leave to cure.

Does anyone know from what Fiat model the above fuel cap strap was sourced by Maserati? My strap is broken (3200 AC). I guess 3200 and 4200 fuel caps are similar?
