Ok so throwing it out there, who would be interested in a forum race team ?
Firstly apoplogies for using the brand name in the title but surely it would promote the forum and all alike on the side of a race car!

From the little time I've been here I've been overwhelmed by the community support and feel think it would be great fun to put one on the track against the rest, utilising all the knowledge and support here.

For starters , do we have interest ? if we do I can set the wheels in motion to set up a budget group club race team, yes group.... we need guys turning up ready for getting there hands dirty, drivers and most importantly a s...t load of spirit.

Who's interested ?

I guess the permutations of geography, people, time etc may hinder.

We have a few X racing drivers on here and Drew is racing currently I believe. Although not heard from him for a while. We also have a chap from Red Bulls pit crew on here as well. Loads of experience floating around the place.

I think the in what is the question, Maseratis of recent years are more GT cars than out and out race cars and therefore they will always struggle to be competitive in almost any class they enter without lots of work

One make cars with an annual handicap - driver getting older than the parts they are replacing? Sounds like a good idea if you need support.

I’ve been racing for a fair few years and currently compete in historics with a Cooper S so if you need any help or advice just ask.

Have you thought about hillclimbs and sprints? Pretty much any one of our cars would be eligible in the road going production car class without modification. You don’t have to worry about other poeple’s driving standards, which I think are getting worse and you get to compete at some pretty evocative places like Prescott, Shelsley and Goodwood. There’s usually a wide variety of cars and the license is easier as no ARDS course.

Or don’t use a Maser the Citroen C2 and new Ka series look good.

One series makes cost more than you think. I have a vast single seater background but never done much Tin top racing.

As long as it was Italian then I don't see an issue as entering a Maserati in a class wold be difficult. The chap downstairs has entered an Alfa 147 into something like you suggest.

I expect the power to weight will stop it entering trackday trophy but should just scrape into the Trackday championship Class S - Max 225BHP/per ton at hubs.

The trackday championship is seen as the next step above but that doesn't really matter. 2drivers for a 45min race. they headed to Zandvoort last year which could be fun.
There's also open classes (wouldn't expect it to stand a chance in these) and a 6hr relay endurance (upto 4cars/drivers) around October each year.

Could be fun. I can bring fun and hands that don't know what they're doing but can get involved!

Ok so he have hands, BigBob on crash damage assessment (you've broke it guys :p) just need a second driver who fancies in. finger in the air until interested candidate - getting a car and basic track ready £40k , race entry around £350 a meeting + Fuel, damage, consumables etc.
A basic budget inc the car id guess £30k ea. Subsequent years £10k ea.
Second driver would have to factor in getting race licence (ARDS Test) if not a racer already. Phil, Andy ?
