You'll need to move the NIT somewhere....

C

I read a bit about that. Suggestions very welcome!

I think the best bet is to leave the main NIT where it is and find somewhere else for the Pioneer module, like behind the seat (it’s a Spyder) or in the boot where the CD changer is. I know you have to leave the NIT screen connected and I guess tucked behind the new screen.

There's no need to move the NIT with this type of hub. They're quite small and will fit either behind or underneath a seat - which I think makes more sense for protection. If behind though I'd choose passenger side as there's a few modules behind the rear bulkhead cover on the driver's side. Assuming you'd want to fix the new hub in place.

Boot mounting the hub in the rear corner may be possible if the signal strength is sufficient. It's approx. 11 feet to the dash. Bear in mind that Pioneer uses a proprietary screen connector and the supplied cable will be short by several feet. They do have an extension cable but they're quite pricey and you'd need at least two.

Re: where to put the screen is, imo, a question of whether you want easy access to it. Behind the new screen is not possible - the lack of mounting depth restricts what can done. Some have buried the screen behind the dash somewhere others have moved it to the glovebox or, wrt a Spyder, the storage compartment behind the seats. Others to the boot above the CD changer.

You'll also need a method of mounting the new screen. A chap in the US made available his custom bezel template for 3D printing which may be of interest. Possibly needs some fettling to accommodate the Pioneer though.

Nae bother big man - now you mention it I'd assumed a 4200. Perhaps Gooner's is a GS. In which case ignore almost everything!

No, you were right it’s a 2002 Spyder. I appreciate all the info, very helpful.

I’m daunted by all the cabling to the speakers etc. but thinking it may be a good winter job. Mounting the screen doesn’t look easy either.

Maybe I’ll just enjoy it as it is for a while. The Yatour + Focals makes a huge difference.

Re: speaker cabling the NIT uses a standard ISO connector. So you'll be able to use the existing wiring.
You'll need an extension, regardless of where the hub is mounted, but they're readily available.
Not seen one of the printed bezel but I understand it's a good fit.
The centre portion could always be cut so the Pioneer sits proud of the surface.
Not as elegant as a flush fit but perhaps nothing to worry about.

That makes the speakers much easier,
thanks. I’ve got some ideas about the screen surround; I guess in the end there are people who would fabricate it for the right price.

Don't know if Edwin247 is still producing the bezels.
Think he was asking $100 a few years ago.
Maybe worth an enquiry.

I found the CAD files provided by Edwin247on Maserati Life and have just sent them to a local (to me, in Bromsgrove) 3D print shop to ask for a quote - will let you know what they say

Nice one, I’d be interested to know.
They quoted £120 plus VAT to print the whole thing in Onyx nylon at 0.1mm resolution (the CAD drawing is in two halves so I'll have to stick them together). I think that's 'reasonable' as it'll save me a lot of work. I'll post some pics once I get the Bezel from them

Seems a pretty good price to me, thanks. I look forward to the pictures, hope it works out for you.

I'm hoping to add a flush fitting reversing camera to the mix too - have you done that or know anyone with any suggestions Gooner?

No idea, sorry. I’m really learning as I go,
happy just to have upgraded all the speakers and figured out the weird wiring for the front ones :). And pleased to have got the roll bar trim back on intact.

I’d just love to fit one of these, hence the interest in the console 3D printing. I think a camera wouldn’t be too hard to do with something like this.

I’m going for something similar in terms of function but not a named brand. It should have FM, satnav, Bluetooth, and DAB radio (via a usb DAB plus box) and rear view camera plus a few other functions on a 7 inch touch screen.

I’ll look up your previous posts as I need to figure out what the cable colours are for the speakers at the NIT so I can swap them over.
I haven’t looked at the speakers yet so don’t know what they’re like!

I was able to fit an active subwoofer (Pioneer TS-wx130ea) under the rear parcel shelf of my 2002 Coupé (non-Auditorium)!

It fits with some pressure and is completly invisible, sounds good doesnt rattle.

As input I was able to take the rear shelf speaker inputs directly (the sub can work with RCA).
I've ran the yellow wire to the red port on the battery, and the black wire to the grounding chassis bolt.

My question now is:
Where to put the blue remote-wire (so the amp only switches on when the ignition is on)?
Is there anything in the boot (near the battery) where I can hook this up?

@strikeout , here's a link to a MaseratiLife thread with lots of pinout information. Most of it Auditorium, but the NIT pinouts may be of interest to you in finding the switchable power indication you need
