Spacers for Granturismo

I agree that they do look better and I even bought a set for my GTS but I never did end up fitting them. Having spoken to a few suspension specialists, I was put off by their view of the adverse affect they can have on the wear of key components by increasing the width of an already very wide & heavy car.
That said, my Trofeo car has huge spacers fitted from the factory so I guess there is no correct answer - each to their own

Got 20mm all round on mine and have had for a couple of years. Got the geometry done but not had any issues with excessive tyre wear, handling or suspension and its just passed the MOT.

That's very interesting Stuart. So the race car has spacers rather than a remachined hub or wheels with the correct offset to give the required width?
That surprises me.
I know long term wear isn't an issue on a race car, but still.
Is it a completely bespoke suspension set up or the same as the Strad?

Does Race car = disposable components? Nephew works in motorsport (F2 and below) where every fastener fitted is brand new. This means every nut and bolt that comes off the car is thrown out. Could Trofeo race series treat suspension components likewise? Guess if the car lasts a full season, it might get a refresh next year. So who cares if suspension is "worn" by extra spacers.

These are the spacers recently used by MC_Bob on his QPV (super forma)
And the ones I will might get - just for research purposes. (£215 doesn't even buy one tyre)

Do your own research, as I know that name has come up before in my Supra and GTR days. Probably fine on a cruiser though.

I’ve used H&R spacers for years on all my cars, never had any issues nor premature wear caused on other components.
It’s hard to tell how they change the drive of the car, as I normally fit larger/wider wheels too.

It is a bespoke suspension made for the Trofeo series. The brakes, hubs & wheels too are unique. There is no traction control or ABS so it is a very simple system.
When the Trofeo series ended, the cars were sold off by Maserati and converted to GT4 spec so that they can run in the various SRO series around the world and one of the many changes made under the FIA & SRO guidelines was to widen the track and this is when the spacers were added. They are around 27mm, making the car overall a fair bit wider than a standard GT as it has wider front wings and small carbon/kevlar rear arch extensions
