Good article, quite like the 612 these days which is strange as I was never a fan when it first came out

Hi Nathan, thats the first time i've re-read the article since you had the car. Its well written and the car looks great (well I would say that). I still have it of course and its been ran out but not too far during these last few weeks. Andy, I was the same earlier in their life, I thought they were awkward looking and under tyred with the standared wheels. When I saw this one in the flesh at KHPC, the colour combination and the bigger wheels just blew me away and within minutes I had made the decision in my head. Once I drove it, the V12 and sports exhaust made me sign on the dotted line. Its brilliant although quite a fragile build quality.
After reading it again I shall take it out tonight :)
Cheers

Can never read any Bauer stuff on my phone as the “cookies warning” can’t be scrolled to click on

It’s got a fabulous engine and sounds awesome with the optional sports exhaust. It was quite hard work around the Evo triangle (pre cameras) but no one was keeping up with me!

Most of these used F Cars are good value for money compared with the new and nearly new experience. If they fit into your plan, buy them. They are great machines and lots have been pampered. As people on here have said before, the looks are subjective and after a while the depreciation is fairly minimal, but the potential bills can make or break your decision.

If you’re driving alone for driving pleasure, the rules are very different. With family involved, both the unfashionable proper Ferraris are great, but bang for buck the contemporary Maseratis must be considered.

Great point and that is why I chose the Strad above the 612 for similar money. I looked at the service records of a few 612s and £15k services were quite common. One has to look at the whole cost of ownership when making comparisons.

And with the same money I think I’d probably opt for a Strad also... conversely one could argue that crossing continents or driving with sprogs in the back would certainly be more attuned to the 612. All depends on what it’s for!
