Some questions 94 non abs Ghibli

Hi All, I’m Graham the guy who bought Crofty’s Ghibli II. So far really happy with the car. It goes great and the power for a 25 year old car is staggering.

The car is going into the bodyshop in the next two weeks for some minor repairs. The only other issue I’m having is with a whine from the diff. This car is the non abs model so am I right in saying it doesn’t have the 456 diff?

Next question. Does anyone have a diff for sale or could anyone point me in the right direction as to what my options are? Is there a rebuild kit available?

Here’s a pic of the car after a good detail.

David Askew or Mike Roberts would be first port of call I'd have thought. You have a great car there, I've accompanied it on two forum European trips to Modena for the Centenary and last year to Monaco & Portofina, she is quick and very capable if lacking in the brakes department on the mountain passes!

Are you sure the whine is from the crown wheel/pinion and not a diff bearing?

That's such a pretty car, congratulations.

Nice Car!! The “Ranger”-differential can be rebuilt by a specialist. And there are Spares available.

Are the body shop people going to paint the bumpers and window surrounds to match the rest of the car?

So I have one issue. The car was painted in 2014 not the original black. It now looks like a really dark metallic grey in some light and black in other. It is a Maserati colour but I don’t have a paint code and Croft’s is trying to get me it from the bodyshop but 5 years on they may not have it. Does anyone have any idea what colour it is and the code? I’ve posted a pic below of a close up. Any help would be appreciated.

There was only one metallic black shade available when the Ghibli was new, the colour was called Nero Siderale and has the following codes:

PPG: MET 290500
Glasurit: MET.MAS 906/C
Factory paint code: 20121

There are no guarantees that your car was repainted in an original Ghibli colour, the bodyshop may well have used a more modern Maserati shade. I would suggest that they haven't used an original Ghibli shade of metallic grey as the most common shade of factory grey used on the Ghibli was Grigio Vulcano and is nothing like the colour on your car.

After some digging I also thought it was Nero Siderale. I’ve ordered a small sample to see if that is indeed the colour. Thanks

So the car is back from the bodyshop looking a million dollars. The colour is actually Grigio Granito. The previous bodyshop found the original spray card and kindly sent it up to me. The paint match is perfect.
