Some Gransport questions

I will definitely post some, including a group photo (1955 British, 1980 German and 2006 Italian sports cars)
Just for information that others also seem to want.
I mailed Maserati regarding production numbers for Gransport Spyder production and received this reply, indicating just how exclusive a right hand drive is.
They are really pretty close to the Ferrari 550 Barchetta in numbers and only a little behind in the usual performance measurements.

"
With reference to your request, we have contacted the relevant department, in order to obtain the information you requested.
We herewith inform you that on a total of 472 Maserati Gransport Spyder produced, 46 were right handed.
We remain at your complete disposal for any further information or assistance you may need.
Kind regards,
Silvia Di Bari

Good work - how did you get useful information out of Maserati??? Can you get numbers to each country please? We've long thought 27/29 RHD to the UK.

I've had this conversation (argument?) with forum members in the past...some suggesting that 26RHD in total was the number (to which i expressed great doubt). I've seen 6 advertised in Australia the past 4 years...

Mediterraneo blue with beige interior....aus delivery...50k klms.....
ZAMEB18D000024447

Nero black with beige interior....aus delivery....50k klms..... ZAMEB18D000024051

Silver with black interior...aus delivery...50k klms...sold in qld 6 months ago app 53k aud then again by a speculator in vic only a few weeks later in the low 60s

Black with beige interior...aus delivery....very high klms....about 100k klms....sold by a dealer 3 years ago circa 50k

Nettuno blue with rosso red interior....Singapore delivery....mileage discrepancy (reliably informed).... interior ruined by humidity...private sale out of perth in 2016 circa 40k

Black with black.....uk import.....65k klms (some may have been miles incorrectly converted), nice condition, sold in vic in 2015 circa 58k aud.

I've seen 3 or 4 in uk....the yellow at ...was it romans....asking low 30s. The green at McGrath asking 50, and whatever dicky may have sold.

Thanks for the info. I was just hoping Maserati SPA might be finally willing to give numbers to countries to sort out that figure to the UK for good! When I bought mine about 3 years ago there was one (black with red interior) that sold about 6 months before I bought mine, then there was mine and then another 5 or 6 sold within the next six months. Since then I've only been aware of 2 or 3 for sale, including that yellow one that nobody wants!

Yes, i appreciate why you'd like this clarity. I would too! I'd venture whatever was delivered to uk...there'd now be less...as a few will have been imported to australia.

I thought someone finally took old yella off the dealer's hands? Banana was a bad choice....

Maybe I just reached someone in a good mood, as a subsequent info request did not go answered in any useful way other than "Contact your local dealer".
For record mine is ZAMEB18C000026411. Grigio Touring over Nero with Silver brightex.
I am very very happy with the Spyder. Now that I have had a day with it, it is even better than I thought (Except fuel consumption. That is way worse due to playing!)
I definitely like the Spyder's stance more than the coupe

I have a question for other spyder owners. The lockable compartment back between the seats. The lock works, but I can just pop it open with my fingers. Is this a faulty catch or is it just bad quality?

I attach an image or 2. Unfortunately I have not been able to do proper photos yet as its been raining and a bit of a whirlwind.
Things to do: Revert the rims to the correct light colour. Find Brightex for the seat inserts.

Bad quality. It was a common fault with the Spyder. Mine would occasionally pop open whilst driving. Should be fixable though.

Personally I perfer the GS Spyder to the Coupe, the shorter wheelbase hides the impact of those surf boards under the doors. I was tempted by one a few years ago and probably should have bought it but you live and learn.

Now get out and enjoy

Hi chaps,

For those interested, on the UK GranSport Spyder numbers, there were officially 26 cars brought to the UK. As mentioned above, there are fewer than that left now, for certain.

Black was the most common colour with 9 being imported, 4 Blu Nettuno’s and a mixture of others including Verde Goodwood (green - 1 of), Argento Luna (2 of) and of course Giallo Grantourismo which was a one off on these shores.

Question closed :)

Cheers
Woody

And for the record, if I had the means, the one at McGrath’s would be sat beside mine by now.

Gave the car a good clean after a rainy few days.
I think the exterior is in very good condition, but the interior shows a little wear here and there.
Small things like rubber tears, cracked seat leather and so on, but still absolutely ecstatic with the car. Its a beautiful and wonderful thing and so much fun.

I have one further question.
The dealer forgot to put the booklets in the car and now I feel like I need to check up what it should be.
What are all the loose bits that should be with the car? I am not quite sure form my searches what the original delivered bits were.
I have been able to make sure that all the tools and compressor is included at least.

Keys? Main, Spare and Valet or just main/spare?
Booklets? Owner's Manual. Others? How many should there be?
Code Card? There seems to have to be a card with codes to the infotainment system?

Anything else?

extras book ( showing what tou could waste/spend your money on)
Valet drivers slips explaining how to drive it.

Thank you for the valuable info once again. I am almost done with questions, promise!
My books are complete except for the radio card, but at least the code is written on another card that was in the booklet cover.

1: Where should the toolkit fit and how? In the boot somewhere, but should it be tied down? Under the spare?
2: Are all standard infotainment systems (Mine is 2006) supposed to be able play mp3? I do not see such an option on the screen regardless of the CD source I select. I have the 6-CD changer as well and it also does not have the choice.
