Sold the Macan and bought a......

I've been looking at these off and on for 5 years. Finally bought one. Had the Macan for over 3 years and were it's clearly a good car, it's not exactly an exciting drive. I thought I better buy something silly before I'm forced into an electric daily either by the Government or my accountant.

First impressions are that it's silly fast and fun even at normal speed, which is great as my FF only comes really alive when it's at "lose your licence' speeds.

There is a massive difference in the M2 range with my car being a 370bhp 3l turbo, the Competition is 420bhp and has the M4 engine and then the CS which is £75k and a rival to the Cayman GT4.

So far I love it. It's the reincarnation of the E30 M3 and that can't be a bad thing.

I've owned a lot of BMWs, lots of M cars and it's right up there.

Interesting how you get on with it.
Manual or paddle shift?
I'm not sure I could live with one as a daily, purely down to the ride quality.
Even with my M140i I do find it tiring, especially when driving locally, and prefer nipping out in the Pinin, for a rest!!

It's paddle shift. The suspension is very hard, if you don't like that then I wouldn't recommend it. Although I believe the M2 Competition has softer settings than the original car, such as mine.

So you'll just have to spend more on a competition.... :)

Mate had the M2 Comp, lovely thing factory order with all the toys and big brake option. He sold it back within 6 months as suspension was too hard for him as a daily. Reason why I asked really.

So 100% the original M2 is too hard for many. But I like it.

Thanks for the enthusiasm all.

First impressions are good. It's certainly quick, with the 0-60 alledged to be 4.2 seconds. It feels like that may be true. The suspension is hard and fidgety on poor roads surfaces, feels much better on a decent surface. I don't mind it but I can understand why it could be too hard and old skool for many. It's a bit like my old Subaru WRX Sti.

The paddle shift is decent. And the auto mode does a good job of pretending to be a full auto. Sport mode quickens everything up and makes the car feel urgent and on edge. The Sport+ mode is a wee bit slidey at the rear but somehow makes the exhaust pop and cackle, which is cool.

There is a load of modifications available for them but I think I'm going to resist these - at least for now. With the exception of adding Apple Car play which I have booked to happen on Thursday. For £250, there is a local specialist that will flash the firmware and add Carplay. I have it in my 2014 5 series and it makes the car feel more modern. The Android Auto is a bit pants (wife uses Android) so it's a mod I'd recommend only for Apple users.

So far the thing I like most is that it feels quick at more normal speeds which means that fun is on hand without being at Mach2.

So far, so good.

Absolutely love those!
And as you mentioned, they seem more of a successor to the E30 M3 than the current M3/4 range, as those inevitably have grown in seize and weight as all other cars have over time.

Enjoy it!
