Well I have decided I am not going to keep the very nice facelift 4200 I bought in May. I was looking for a nice interesting car that I could use often as my garage queen 4200 doesn't get out enough. Lovely car, drives well, nice colour combo but I want to get a manual box car. Current thinking is I will move out of my Chimaera into a bigger/newer TVR or something possibly different but interesting.

If anyone has anything interesting that want to sell that I could be interested in I could buy cash, maybe a swap deal with the Chimaera or 4200 or both involved. I am open to offers and suggestions.

I bought this car cheap so will be selling it cheap. I will likely display it @ Brands Hatch for Festival Italia with a for sale sign to see what goes. Will also list it on Ebay for £14995. However if anyone is interested on here I would sell it to a forum member as a quick and easy sale for much much less than this. Feel free to ask any questions or come to view or make an offer.

I will update more details a bit later but the basics are:
2005/55 Facelift so pre-March 2006 for cheaper car tax band
59k miles
5 Previous Owners
Blu Nettuno Metallic with Crema Leather
18" 7 Spoke Alloys with Ball Polished Finish
Last Serviced October 2018
MOT'd until 20/05/2020
Rear Exhaust Box Delete with straight through pipes so sounds nice and loud!
I have a set of standard 4200 back boxes though if it was preferred to be returned to stock
Formula Dynamics longer Carbon Fibre shift paddles.
Marios @ Autoshield has serviced & maintained this much of its life by the look of it

Great condition all round and can't see there would be much out there anywhere near this cheap.

Is there? Whereabouts? I'll take a look as had not noticed. It is in the garage 20 seconds away so will take a look.

A good bit of interest already which has surprised me a bit as was waiting for a slower burn in the current market. Got someone coming to view Thur/Frid. Also been offered a swap deal for a Monaro which sounds interesting. Possibly also another swap deal for 4200+Chimaera for something a bit more interesting and more expensive but nothing confirmed yet.

Keep us posted - I am interested in what cars you get offered.
On a side note - I’d love to take the plunge on your car, but not sure I can deal w the 3200/4200 constant need for small work. I’d be a bit more handy and could do some of the maintenance myself I would buy it in no time.

As long as the car visits a competent specialist once a year, and thus gets regular preventative maintenance, this should not be an issue. After an initial inspection you may have quite a long list but hopefully (assuming you have bought a decent enough car as a base from, say, a trusted forum member) nothing too major or urgent that stops you enjoying the car. Then each year tick some of them off (which is all part of the fun of ownership). We are lucky there is so much help and info on here to make owning a desirable and currently under-valued Maserati far less onerous.

The 4200 is a completely different proposition to a 3200 in the main. Much more modern and better built from day one so much more reliable generally. I don't see the 4200 as a flaky car at all and it stands up to much of its competition very well even those from Germany.

One of the options was to get something £25k-£40k and use the 4200 + Chimaera to get to circa £25k and add some cash to get something over £25k. Might be useful for someone wanting to come out of something more expensive and have two fun cars in return. I did get offered something interesting but not sure it would be what I would want so have put that deal on a back burner for the moment.

I am sure a few people around this forum have cars to offload/shift and others they would love to get to scratch some sort of itch... why not set a car barter market place?
I’ll throw my M3 in the mix... so far we have a 4200, a chimaera and an M3... what else?? lool

Might be a new business idea/app as a broker to assist with swap deals. If it is hard work selling and buying cars these days I am sure many would be up for swaps. Just need to act as an independent intermediary to assist at a fair deal for both parties.

I have a few lol but they do tend to sell to people who like changing a lot and fortunately come back in 9-12 months and do just that, and I try to only sell cars I am happy to have back (but they tend to keep that one as well fortunately so far or sell it on in the family or to a friend etc)

The added positive when swapping cars with people you know is that you don’t end up with cars that were “run” for a year between 2 service maintenance and owners that try to cut corners

Agreed. It could certainly work in the right environment with the right owners and cars.

You moving out of your M3 then? Swap for a TVR?
