Have you tried make up remover? God knows what chemical is in the stuff my wife uses to clean her face but it cleaned the car up a treat!

Toluene and Xylene if the haven't been banned. Excellent solvents.

Indeed, as indicated earlier. 10 minute job on a dreadfully sticky boot, filler cap etc array, and light knob.
Alternatively propan-2-ol - is propranol. Available as cellulose thinner from any wood finishing store
