So, what’s better - old Strad or new MC?

Interested in your opinions on the old MC Stradale compared to the new ‘swan song’ MC. Are they compatible, completely different beasts, etc.

Interested in your thoughts in a general sense.

Very different. The MC20 is definitively in the super car bracket, being a properly fast and nibble 2 seat sports car. The Strad, on the other hand, ended as a heavy 4 seat GT (all be it a very good one).

Three differences I guess.

Interior - newer infotainment
Gearbox - MC is an auto, so slower shifts (100ms vs 60ms) - this is noticeably faster.
Brakes - Stradale has carbon discs, the MC steel. These are noticeably better.

Sorry for any confusion, I didn’t mean the MC Stradale vs MC20, I was meaning the MC Stradale (latest I can see is 2017) vs the last of the current GT’s simply labelled as MC (2018 onwards from what I can see. Bodywork seems pretty much identical. Think Zep has nailed the answer above. So would it be fair to say the later MC car is a little more of a relaxed car to live with - a bit sportier than the standard GT Sport but not quite as fire breathing as the original MC Stradale?

A Strad would potter about just fine, it just has a bit more edge to it when your hair is on fire.

I watched a video on the MC on YowTube and wondered what was wrong with the gearbox, until I noticed it had a gearstick. The Strad shift is nearly twice as fast when pushing on.

Interesting. So is there much mechanically different between the GT Sport and newer GT MC then or is it just the Stradale body kit and better infotainment?

The suspension is different between the sport and the newer MC. All else is cosmetic.

A genuine Strad drives completely differently to either because of the gearbox and brakes etc.

I’m not sure the suspension is completely different, the MC has the fixed rate dampers (like the stradale) and the sport skyhook adaptive damping. Otherwise it’s all the same.

Correct, I didn’t say the suspension was completely different, but different enough to make the drive like night and day when coupled with the brakes and gearbox

Me, I'd go for the Stradale. But do realize that getting the MCShift automated manual is a big mtce and "bother" commitment...

I went from a 4.7 QP to a 4 seat Strad. Whilst I miss the QP, the Strad gives so much more. I do not regret my decision other than I wish I could have kept the QP as daily. The Strad can rip your head off one minute and then comfortably cruise at motorway speeds without issue.
