Hi,

A short intro as I'm new to the Maserati universe: I'm James (obviously) and living in Holland. I've had Italian cars before: 33 with the boxer, 1st gen Delta, 146 oh and an E46 (result of a mental breakdown) as private cars. Since a decade I've not owned a car priavtely since the company I work for has provided the transport, unfortunately nothing really exiting.

So I've been looking for a 3200 for a few years to get the juices flowing again, preferably one of the builts after the update. After looking for 3 years I finally managed to snag a silver, black/burgundy interior '01 3200 GTA.

As later 3200's seem to be very rare in Holland (this is the only '01 found, never saw a '02) I bought it of a private owner knowing it does need some work doing to it in the common locations:
- Needs a service with cam belt replacement
- Shock actuator replacement, previous owner was so kind to already buy one, which was supplied with the car. Great thanks to him.
- Little corrosion on the wing mirror base, got some ideas already
- Irratic oil pressure sender, found a nice thread already on here, will do with the service
- Driver side window motor finds the last 30 mm to full up very exhausting, ditto
- Sticky buttons, ditto
- Paint comes of inside one of the headlights.
Previous owner already did some nice upgrades:
- Contactless TB upgrade
- Stainless steel exhaust
- Silicon hoses for the cooling system
- 19" rims which I may still revert back to the also supplied stock wheels.
So lot's to do, hopefully fun, probably sometimes frustrating going on my previous experience with the Alfa and Lancia's. Fortunately it's not my daily driver, that releaves a bit of the pressure and hopefully will keep the tantrums incheck.

And many thanks in advance to all of you posting really helpful tips and trics on the forums. Hope I can contribute also in the future.

Cheers
James

grats, had a 3200 gta and "mostly" loved the experience.......when it worked! lol
wing mirror likely to be caused by mixed metals reacting to being next to one another. i had this and body shop took it off repainted and replaced with a thin silicone shim between to stop reoccurance, not too expensive a fix.
good luck and enjoy!

Welcome, I've also got a 2001 car. The answer to most, if not all, of any problems should be able to be found here. Enjoy.

Welcome, you certainly have found the right place as many on here have lots of experience on the good and the bad side of 3200s
