Smart keys catch fraudsters.....big brother in your pocket.....

An article in the STimes about info recorded on a lot of modern cars key fobs, basically, each time the key is inserted it will note time of ignition and distance travelled plus then up load to memory of car.....

They were used originally to verify mileage on cars being brought in for service etc.....but now police and insurance companies using the info for all sorts....never mind catching theives and fraudsters

Rumour has it that the preverbial ( they) are developing a new ecu that can be immobilised by laser beam within a certain range , ideal for targeting and chasing stolen vehicles , or is it just easier to issue a crime number hmmmm i know where i'd put my money on
