We have I new young guy next door, who apparently is not sure what to put in what bin

He put lots of polystyrene packaging in the recycle bin yesterday! not only did the guys not take it away they put an enforcement order on him.
He now has to pay a 80 quid fine!

Dave
He should have just burnt it lol

That's the attitude , it's only £1 a week

Have a feel under the lip of your bin , you'll find a recess about the size of £1 coin , that's for the ID chip when they bring in waste disposal by weight

They'll still want the rates though but you'll get less and less for it
Guess who read the Daily Fail?

How's Diana?

I haven't bought or read a paper in years

Garden waste used to be collected as part of the rates , now here it's £36 , who's to say what's coming, especially now they've got £billions to recoup

I knew someone that got fined , he just stopped putting the blue bin out , everything went in the landfill bin

Garden waste has never been collected as part of the rates in any of the places I’ve lived.

Oxfordshire and Warwickshire have always (last 20+ years) had a food / garden waste wheelie bin and where I am now, you can buy extra bins (I have 3 garden waste bins and next door has 4) at £25 each IIRC.

I'm considering getting one of these as my runaround, a Turismo convertible would be great but serious question, do you have to wave back to all the girls in their Fiat 500s who don't really know the difference? I've currently got a Smart Fortwo convertible and find waving back to excited pensioners a bit embarrassing!

I occasionally get a wave, but normally from modded ones.

Of course. Governments only have one source of money

C

Kept meaning to come back to this one and forgetting / couldn’t word it well.
The Government’s money comes from the Bank of England. It wants more money, it makes more money.
Tax doesn’t fund government spending. Tax is instead used to control inflation, redistribute income and reorganise the economy.

OK. Not sure I agree, but I have no formal economics training. Perhaps 'The government only has one source of income and if it wishes to balance its expenditure vs its income, it can only use this' ?

A pic of my old Abarth. Loved it and great fun as you say !View attachment 82433
My Mito QFV is looking a bit tatty these days as we put more miles on it in all weathers than all the rest of the cars in the fleet combined.

I’m thinking of replacing it with an Abarth or Mini JCW. Which would forum users choose from these 2 and why? I think I would be happy with either and can’t make my mind up

The wife has a mini jcw, I actually really enjoy driving it! We did 400 mile trip and it was surprisingly comfy, Put it sport and it’s a right laugh, pops and bangs from the exhaust, it’s not quick in a straight line to much wheel spin, but put it on the back roads and you’ll leave everything behind. If your bothered about fuel economy you get around 38 mpg. Boot is rubbish though. If your north west way (Blackpool) you can have a go.

We had one of each back to back for extended test drives. The mini was fun, well built, certainly not small and we didn't get anywhere close to 38mpg, even with my wife driving we achieved quite a bit less than that. We borrowed an ex BMW management car, so it had all the bells and whistles, pretty much every extra all for a huge saving on list. The Abarth just made us smile, fits like a training shoe, goes like stink, we loved it. The only slight gripe we had was around the seats, they needed a little more padding for our liking, but certainly not like sitting on a orange box. We didn't get either in the end, however the Abarth will be added to the stable at some point.
I'd say when the world resumes some normality get in both and try them out. They are different, both great cars and enjoyable and I'm glad we did the back to back extended test drives just because neither car was exactly what we thought ( in a good way)

Some Abarths come with Sabelt seats, which are narrow and reasonably hard. I like mine, but I am of smaller stature lol.
