Also, would great braking have any effect on the abs? Or is this activated by a wheel speed sensor?

ABS is specifically triggered (or was) by a sudden drop in rotational speed of a wheel. As you lose traction the wheel will stop slowing in a linear manner and slow down *much* faster. So no.

Not so sure Jon, I’m from the military, KISS, keep it simple stupid etc etc, I do like a bit of differentiation and integration tho, makes life so much easier... I can always remember starting digital electronics training in the Army, the instructor said, it’s just ones and zero’s, how hard can it be, now boys, commit these laws of Boolean algebra to memory.....6 weeks of intense headache later....

I’m back from the pub now, so no need for beer.

I’ve not read the link, but I imagine it’s right. IMO brake wear will be reduced because you need reduced pedal pressure for the same amount of retardation in normal use.

Interested in option 2.

I’m away from the car right now and can’t even think what comes as standard is or solids or rotor setups? Think it’s solids isn’t it?

What’s OEM replacement costs for standard parts ?

Also, someone has to ask ..... pics ....

If you have your seat belt on, this should hold you in the seat properly no matter how hard you brake. But if you’ve not got it on, then you will need to work your abs harder to keep sitting straight. So yes, it is possible that greater braking could have an effect on your abs.

The original front discs are “dual cast”. This means the hub is alloy and the rotor steel, but the manufacturing process means they are inextricably joined.

I will put some pics together later

Great for the forum/owners that this has happened. Hopefully mine will be sold before I need new discs.

Just as a point of reference, these are the dual-cast ones. On the left, some battle-weary originals, skimmed once and now binned. On the right, some lovely fresh new ones courtesy of Formula Dynamics. I think we concluded that these are rebranded originals as fitted to the later GTS with sports handling pack (or whatever it was called).
