Not sure how much difference there is then between the ultimate sounds of the Larinis and a set of straight throughs.........am sure there's a few pounds difference though!!!!!!!

My system has a harder 'edge' and crackle and pop more than any Larinis i've heard, which may be due to the lack of a can at the rear. Other than that, much the same. It will be interesting to see how Matts new system compares.

Ok, we are go. Here are the before and afters:

Before (standard 4200 system with standard GrandSport rear boxes, in sport, valves open):

SportsMaserati custom system (X pipe replaces OEM centre box, GranSport rear boxes opened up and converted to straight through, in sport, valves open):

The real world results, truly awesome.

Its still a very tunned sound, more Ferrariesque, base low down, rises to a howling rasp. Now pops and farts on the overrun, but can be driven quietly if you back off the revs. In a Spyder, zero drone at 2k rpm.

We will be offering the X pipe for sale in a few months for around the £200 mark, can I have a show of hands for anyone who would be interested. For the GS rear box modification, you will need to supply your GS boxes, price to be confirmed but anticipating around the £150 mark.

The system has been developed with the benefits to our members in mind, not profit and a special thank you goes out to BennyD for all his co efforts.

Good work guys.

Sounds great.

Yes, I'm interested at that sort of money. Great news about the lack of drone which was always my gripe in the past.

Without the back boxes, very little I reckon. This is also the opinion of various posters who have said that there is little difference with just the X-pipe. If you fit sports cats, then the X-pipe makes much more of a difference especially with straight through rears. For those going to Le Mans that is what I will be running; sports cats and nothing else. It will be rather crisp!

Great work guys, well done. The difference in sound is remarkable, much more of a bark befitting the car. I've always thought the standard system sounds too muted, especially the GS. I'd be very interested in a X-pipe to go with my Larini rear boxes. Not sure about the cats just yet, need to do a bit more research.

Does sound Ferrari-esque, and none the worse for it, but I do like the bass you get with the Larini's...

The cats make a big difference to the quality and tone of the exhaust note. It will be interesting to see how Matts system sounds without cats. I reckon it will have the bark and sound level of the Larinis but with a higher pitch. He may well be experimenting along those lines in the near future as we are trying to compile a video database of the various combinations of cats, sports cats, X-pipe, modded rear boxes and straight throughs. Once done it will, hopefully, give members the combination required to get the sound they want. Watch this space.

I would also be interested in an x-pipe to go with my Larini sports cats and rear boxes. And it will be intesting to see if this combo affects the drone I get at 2k.
Thanks for the efforts guys.

Well done guys, sounds awesome and a great price!

This may be a stupid question but is the mod reversible if drone becomes an issues, or would new GS back boxes be required?
