I'd like to hear it too. What are you using for deck and pick up cartridge? Do you have loudspeakers or do you prefer to use headphones?
Congratulations anyway. Looks lovely.

I've got a pair of Oppo PM3 headphones

Spendor S6e speakers

The turntable is a STD (Scottish transcription developments )I bought at a car boot sale
Its got a shure M44e cartridge but thats just what was on it , as you can see it must've been quite bumpy on the journey to the boot sale but it still works OK

The guy I got the quad from said he had some electrostatic speakers but wanted 2k for them and I'd need a van so I left it at that as they don't sound very wife friendly

It does look good, I have just about convinced Mrs Z that we need a turntable to play all the albums I have and a Rega 6looks like it might be coming my way post Christmas

Nice topic!
If one really enjoys the sound of a Maserati, then there should be some interest for a fine audio system as well ;)
Our system:
Mcintosh pre amp C50, power amp MC302, recently swapped B&W 702 for B&W 802D3, Kenwood KD7010 with Ortofon MC for stereo.
For surround sound and streaming, a Yamaha CXA5200 pre amp is added.
A Denon AVC A1SR is used for its power amps, to energize the B&W 705 rear speakers and a 200 liter sub with 18 inch driver.

Those 802D3’s......worth every penny!
In the near future maybe MC462 or 2x MC611 to replace the MC302.
Hifi...the never ending story.

Can anyone suggest a good entry level record player at all? Id really like to get i to vinyl, but dont realy know where to start.
Currently got a Yamaha RXA2010 amp, B&W 604 fronts and matching centre, with M1 rears.

Can't go wrong with a Rega Planar 1. But much depends on your budget.

I still use my Michell Focus One which I bought 35 years ago. So massive value for money over that time/use. They do crop up on Ebay and are not expensive.

Where are you? I think I still have a Pro-Ject something or other from about 2008 in my loft. Used for about an hour. Yours for a bottle of something if it's convenient (and I can find it)

Im based just near Silverstone, but could probably arrange something from pretty much anywhere id have thought. Im not in a rush, so if you find it when the tree goes back up in the loft, then please let me know.

Different loft :) We have 4 (which makes it sound like some kind of stately home, but really it's a detached with a loft conversion so 3 in various eaves and the one actually in the peak)

I'm in Harlow so not that convenient, but not impossible. When the cat leaves the office, I'll have a peek. If I open the door while she's around, she's in there like a greased streak of black lightning and we never know where the **** she'll come out!

Ha ha, no worries thankyou. I have family in the South of Essex, so a diversion isnt that bad. Give me a shout if you find it, and we can sort it out. Thanks again

Odd. It was exactly where I thought it was.
Project Debut III
23/02/2008 £235 although that included the phono box pre-amp which I am very unsure of location. Deck was £160.

Still got the last record I played on it as well! All boxed

Project debut 3 is a good entry level deck and if that doesn't pan out a Rega P1 is a good shout.

You can not fail with a Project.
However, a well maintained Thorens or Dual (eighties), is very often superior to an entry level Project.
Whatever you choose, be sure your tone arm and cartridge has been installed in the correct way.
A great player set up badly, can sound worse then a medium one, done with care.

Had a TD-150 for years. Lovely thing.

This Debut has had literally a couple of hours use. Amazed at the values on ebay!

Good thinking , that'll give you enough time to save up for catman's idea of a bottle of something :D

My local pub used to have Petrus on the wine list, and went through it with the shoot parties. But a new owner took over and lowered the tone of the list (and clientele) somewhat. Shame.

Happening all over, sadly :(
